Anyone have experience with this?

Not sure if there was a better place to ask this if there was then I'm sorry. I filed for divorce from my DH and a little while after decided that if he could fate during our marriage then I shouldn't feel bad about dating now that I've filed. Had one relationship didn't work out and I realized I was not ready. Month later I found out that I was expecting a baby. I have chosen to be a single mom to two as I have no interest in being with the BD (we are not compatible at all) and when he found out I didn't want to be with him he decided he didn't want to be daddy. His loss. My problem is this, when my divorce is finally finalized my maiden name will be reinstated, however this may not happen until after I have my baby. Does anyone know if I can give my son my maiden name even if my name isn't legally that yet? I'm not using BD name since he doesn't want to be involved and I would rather have the baby have my name in that case. Thanks for any help and again sorry if this was posted wrong.

    You can give your baby any name you want, within reason.  I don't think you'd get away with naming him something like Obama, if you know what I mean.

    Agree with pp. As long as it's not some crazy off the wall thing you can give your child any last name you want.
