Hi all,
Leaving the boards for now.  First ultrasound showed no heartbeat at 8 weeks.  Heart was formed but no beat.
My question is how many of you had a second ultrasound following a first one where the doctor determined the pregnancy was not viable?  My husband wants to request another ultrasound next week just to be sure there is no fetal growth and heartbeat.  He wants to be certain before we schedule any medical procedures for miscarriage but haven't heard of anyone having a follow up ultrasound after the doctor diagnosis miscarriage.  Last year when I had a miscarriage, I had ended up with two ultrasounds because the first showed a slow but present heartbeat.  The second had no heartbeat so we knew the pregnancy was over.
Are doctors usually open to a follow up ultrasound to confirm miscarriage?

If you don't want another ultrasound make sure to get another bloodtest done to see where your levels are. That's what I had done but I knew my dates so well that another ultrasound wasn't going to help me at the time.
Take care of yourself!

I say do what you need to do to find closure. If your husband wants another one, than do it. It is a hard enough situation without constantly wondering 'what if'.
