Steroid injections at 27+2. Low fluid level and growth.

Hi ladies. I had my weekly ultrasound today and my amniotic fluid is low. Also, the baby is measuring in the 11% percentile. Today, they have admitted me and given me steroid injections and IV fluids. Has anyone had any experience with anything similar? I am hoping to gain some support because I am very nervous and upset. Thanks in advance.

I'm sorry you are going through this! My babe is measuring behind (in head and femur) but so far my placenta and cord/fluid are ok. I'm terrified of IUGR! I'm only 23 weeks. Just wanted to check on you and see how u are doing!

  • My best friend went through this.. She did steroids and then magnesium shots for brain development, while on bed-rest in hospital. Halted labor at 26 weeks and she ended up giving birth at 30 weeks. Baby is just fine now :) Almost a year and meeting adjusted milestones perfectly!
  • I went through something similar. At 30 week ultrasound my baby was measuring about 12 percentile. I was given 2 steroid shots and then had ultrasounds every few days. We made it to 34 weeks when the blood flow through the umbilical cord deteriorated and baby wasn't growing and he was below 5th percentile at that point. Had a c section and my son was 3lbs at 34 weeks. He spent 4 weeks in the nicu and is a healthy 11 month old now. He is still small...he's in the first percentile for weight but perfectly healthy.
