am i being selfish?

hi all
I am due beginning of june and i am dying to start buying things for my little one but my other half keeps telling me to wait. This is my second child and my other halfs first child. We have decorated the babys room and are due to move furniture into their room in next few weeks.i work full time and after i finish work tidy the house and put my little boy to bed the only thing keeping me going is looking at what we can get for the little bump. Am i being selfish an wanting to get things too early? My arguement is that i just want to get a few bits every few weeks because it keeps me going. Any advice would be great

I don't see that as selfish at all. Just sounds like you are excited about the new baby and want to celebrate it

If anything, it's better because you spread out the shopping more so it's not quite as much of a financial hit all at once.

Seems like a sound plan, to accrue a little bit here and there. Maybe he is afraid that you'll over buy, get the things you need and and then start in on stuff you don't need. Impulse buy stuff. I do that. I have my sister holding my reins when we do my wish list / registry. She keeps me on track getting only stuff I need

I already have clothes bought and in drawers for LO. My second as well. I don't think it's selfish to want to get a few things now. I mean, June is not that far away.

I am a ftm but my hubby thinks I am crazy for wanting to have stuff done this early. If it were up to him we would do everything last minute. When his sis had her baby in September things weren't ready because she didn't have the energy to do it during her last 2 months. That's why I wanted to do it now. But you definitely aren't selfish or crazy for doing it now.

I think it's smart to do it in your 2nd trimester when you have energy and aren't huge yet.

Set a budget and discuss. Perhaps he is concerned about upcoming expenses.

Not at all. I mean, does he want help later or not. As you get further along, it is going to be harder to help out with everything. For me, I can't be out in public too long because of the pain from varicose veins, hernia, and near fainting spells. Besides, it is much easier to spread out the shopping budget wise (not sure if you need too). Good luck

I don't think it's selfish. I bought stuff for my lo on a recent trip. Now I'm not like you ladies all organized and stuff, it's all still sitting in the suitcase. Dh doesn't want to do anything with the nursery until end of april. If that means he has to do everything so be it. I think it's good to be excited and buy things but always keep the family budget in mind

I don't think it is selfish at all. We have all of the big items either at our own home or at our parents (they will gift us with them at our shower). I am a teacher so I have off this week. My husband and I have been finishing buying what we NEED before the baby. All clothes and baby things we have or that were given to us are washed and put away. I think whatever is best for you should be done. We just have done things as money was available.
