Tummy time?

does anyone else's baby hate tummy time? She screams after about 30 seconds...

Re: Tummy time?

  • Same here. Longest he has gone is 2 minutes. He's 7 weeks and I was going to bring it up at his 2 month dr appt. He could be in the best mood talking and playing.......flip him over for tummy time, he's pissed.

  • Yes my baby girl too! She is also 7 weeks... Sometimes she lets me prop her on the boppy so she is off her stomach, but not always.
  • Yea same here but he used to like it. I hear babies begin to like it more at 3 or 4 months.
  • Sometimes it's better than others. Try it at different times, even if it's for a short while it's good for them to work all those muscles, including their legs!

  • I just noticed my post says "tunny" time. Hehe. Not sure what that is but it sounds like fun! I hate typing on my phone!
  • We sometimes do tummy time on a big exercise ball. I put DS on it and roll him gently from side to side or back and forth. I found the idea in an article I read. DS though is good about tummy time.
  • We were doing tummy time on my chest too - but when I asked my pediatrician if that counts she said no. :( She suggested we rub our hand on his diapered toshie -- which seems to help some. It's still hard to get him to do it more than a few minutes.
  • My twins are the exact same way!

  • I prop LO on a small pillow otherwise directly on a flat surface she will scream!
  • @teaismCAgal‌ Every doctor is so different, our doctor was the one that suggested it!

@kelsire - I'm glad to hear that! I don't know why it wouldn't count, it still allows them to practice holding up their neck muscles. Now I can keep doing tummy time on my chest without feeling guilty. :)
  • Scarlett is 2 months today, we use the boppy or us. That's interesting the Dr said tummy time on you doesn't count, our Dr said that was fine.

  • I tend to start with him on the ground and let him fuss a bit, then before he loses it put the boppy down for him to lay on. That often makes him happier. Also, if I get down on the ground to sing/talk to him he enjoys it much more.

  • Glad I'm not alone! I would Also think on your chest would count... Strange. The ball thing sounds interesting! Hopefully she will just grow out of this soon. I always try talking to her, singing, and patting the booty... She still hates it.
  • My LO tends to enjoy and do well with tummy time. He's been holding his head well since around 1 month :) I'm very happy he enjoys it and does well. However, he's getting frustrated these days because he wants to move and can't yet. Plus he is only turning tummy to back...hasn't gotten that back to tummy flop yet :/
  • My lo hattttes tummy time too! I do it once a day and keep him on his tummy for as long as possible before he spazzes. I usually start just on his tummy then prop him on the boppy and he'll last a few more seconds or minutes but he's really strong already and holds his head up by himself when I hold him so I'm not too worried. Our dr said his head was nice & round too I was worried about a flat head!L
  • I have to do tummy time on my chest with the little guy. He rolls already and the second I put him on the ground he screeches and then rolls over. He refuses to pick his head up unless he can't just flip over. (8 weeks)
