Pre Labor Malaise

I started feeling quite ill while out on an errand with DH last night (hormone swings, weakness, and nausea).  I thought it was due to eating a whole bar of dark chocolate.  The nausea was short-lived and my BP is normal.  I've been having trouble sleeping and staying asleep due to 'contractions'.  I'm not sure what they are because I have no pain and I can't even tell when they begin or end.  I just know I have to get to the bathroom.  I'm going to go with BH since they aren't even regular.  So, I'm a total wreck today thanks to the sleep deprivation.  I normally have no trouble napping, but can't seem to do that today either.  And the general malaise continues.

To make things worse, DH and I seem to be on different planets today, but at least he's trying and course correcting as the day wears on.  He's having to change jobs unavoidably around my due date, which is stressing us both out.  Our insurance runs out end of this month and he's scrambling to get continuous coverage lined up.  On the bright side, he might accidentally have a longer paternity leave this way.

LO seems to oscillate between the LOA and ROA positions as best I can tell, as though he is trying to burrow down.  He isn't making any progress, though!  I think I'm relieved about that.

I have no show or leaking yet, thank god.  I want to make it till the 37 week, early term, mark on Saturday at least.  It seems like labor can start any day now, though I guess BH can go on for weeks.  As I said on the TTC>35 board, FX LO doesn't have Valentine's Day for a birthday!

The end is hard. You start to think everything is a sign of labor. You just never know. It could be today or it could be in 5 weeks. The best thing I found was to keep busy and distracted so you don't drive yourself crazy in these last few weeks.

with your first you try to equate everything to "maybe labor will be starting for me".  Once you really go into labor, however, you almost will feel silly for all the false clues you picked up on that turned out to be nothing!

One of my friends didn't know she was in labor for a while. She was just extremely tired, thought she was having BH and got into bed to try to nap. The contractions then progressed quickly and although they were in no way regular, she knew she had to go to the hospital and delivered within four hours from the first signs. It was her first. They made it to the hospital in good time but she was too far along for an epidural. She looks back on the experience and thinks it couldn't have gone better. Her second was even faster - only three hours. So, you never really know. Everyone is different.  I hope you make it to Saturday at least! :) Very exciting.

Hang in there!  Can't offer anything else as this is my first pregnancy.  Hope tomorrow is an easier day.

Boy, that's a pretty challenging night and day. It sounds pretty uncomfortable to say the least, and no sleep makes coping so much harder. I do remember the end being pretty darn miserable and just wanting labor to start. I'm not looking forward to that part again. I hope you get some better days ahead. Hugs to you.

Ugh. It is hard. I'm one of those women that doesn't think anything is labor. With my son in 2008 I had gone into triage but they sent me home saying it was just early labor. So when contractions got hard, I was calling my mom..and my BFF saying I dunno. Should I go.. Maybe not. With my daughter I happened to be at the Hosp for an appt. I felt light cramping but I just thought it was discomfort. The resident said nope you're contracting and we are just going to admit you. Hopefully this time I read my signs of labor better!

    Good luck!!

The last few weeks for me were brutal with DS. I was borderline on everything (labs, blood pressure, baby size), and didn't qualify for induction, but couldn't go to work or do anything either. It made the time pass even slower. I thought everything was a sign of labor. It didn't help that I got a stomach bug around 35-36 weeks and was doubled over in pain with cramping at regular intervals for a few days.

And then.....TMI? Probably.....The thought "is that my fluid leaking? Or pee? Or sweat? Ewwww"

I hope this time passes quickly for you but LO bakes a little longer. In the meantime, refold LOs clothes, repack bags, scrub cabinets and doors, make some freezer meals, or anything else you can do to pass the time.

    **siggy warning**

Thank you for the sympathy/empathy :)  I'm feeling much better (this minute anyway).  I guess the crumminess is going to ebb and flow until the end.  I feel sorry for DH who has to put up with Mrs. PMS Dragon for weeks, potentially.  I'm going to have to be creative with the distractions since it's pretty hard to engage on anything with the brain fog.
