Talking to your baby...

You always hear about moms (and dads!) talking to the baby while still inside. I just feel weird if I try it (though I'm living at the hospital, I think I'd feel weird doing it even at home). What do you SAY? I mean, sometimes I'll say "Whoa there baby" or "hello" when he gives a big kick. But general talking? I got nothing.

I haven't been doing a lot of talking other than asking for strong kicks for dad to feel.

I have been trying to get DH to talk more to baby. I figure baby hears my voice all day and I want it to hear more of DH. The last couple of days I've gotten him to read the baby stories. But I think he feels weird doing that. We will see how long it lasts...

I'm a musician so I sing and play instead. I also do all my planning out loud and voice what's going on in my head. Or talk about the traffic. Etc etc

I've sang to her a bit and she loves it. Especially when I hum low. She rolls around

If you really don't know what to say, try reading a book or something while rubbing your belly so they're familiar with your voice and touch.

I read to him sometimes. I also tell him to get out of my ribs lol. My husband talks to him a lot. He usually uses my belly button as a microphone.

I don't talk a lot to my baby either. I never really have. It also makes me feel weird. Lol I sing all the time and all my babies loved that. My DH talks to her some but not a ton. I think it's cute when he does.

I talk to him at home and sing..my so talks to him all the time..so sweet. My daughter who is 8talks to him as well and hugs my belly and gives it a kiss.. He moves a lot when we rub my belly in circles or if I'm singing.

Yeah, I don't talk to my belly at all. I feel weird. At least he hears my voice when I talk to other people I guess. I don't really feel like it's all that important to talk to him. We'll talk plenty when he's not in my uterus, haha. H occasionally talks to him but he's super weird about it and does it in a deep voice so I usually shove him away.

My job requires me to talk all day so my baby hears my voice a lot. I'm not really sure of what to say when I just talk to her, so sometimes I'll just say her name and rub my belly to try to get her used to hearing her name. DH won't talk to her...I think he feels stupid and doesn't know what to say. When he is close to my tummy and she hears him she starts moving around a bit, so I think she likes his voice.

I'm a teacher, so I'm CONSTANTLY talking, but I usually talk to baby on my ride to and from work. When she kicks I usually rub my belly. My husband hasn't really talked to baby much, but he's also under a deadline to get the house in order (we started a major project BEFORE we found out we were expecting) and it's taking a lot longer than planned (doesn't it always!). He will rub my belly and say hello to her and whatnot, but it's kinda weird for me to lay there and have him talk to my belly.

I really don't talk to the baby directly, but I talk either on the phone at work or to the kids at home all day long. Baby hears my voice plenty, I'm sure

I find the idea of talking to baby weird too. I figure she hears our voices as the time just through talking so I don't see how talking to other people differs from talking to her. She can't tell what we're saying!

Lol it's weird but I actually do it a lot n so does my partner. I tell him whatever and whenever I am going to do something. He replys with kicks

I teach too, so I'm talking most of the day, and frankly just like QUIET at the end of it all. Other than a few hi's and rubs, she mostly just hears me at work. She DOES however love the bustle of one of my classes - she's rocking and rolling the whole 75 minutes.

I feel weird doing it too, although I read an article about babies born prematurely and given recordings of their moms voices in the nicu, and those babies making more progress than those who didn't listen to recording of their moms. Just thought it was interesting. But like others, I'm a teacher and talk all day long, so she hears me enough. I feel bad when I have to yell and she hears that though (I have a horrible class this year!).

I talk to my twins. I say good morning to them every morning and whenever they start kicking big I talk to them.
