So the last two days have been a horrible roller coaster. ER was Friday where we got 19 eggs (mentioned above). We decided not to do ICSI as DH's sperm has always looked average or better even though my RE always suggests it. The RE called yesterday morning (24 hours affter retrieval) and ZERO eggs had fertilized. It was devastating news. They offered to do rescue ICSI and this morning we got word that 2 eggs had fertilized and we will see if they develop far enough to be frozen. We'll know more on Tuesday but they won't be able to transfer this week (that part I'm ok with).
I'm so deflated and I know that with 2 there is still a possibility of a baby but I just never would have imagined that 19 eggs would only yield 2 embryos (and that only after the rescue ICSI). The doc said there weren't even any sperm attached to the zona pelicuda. I really don't know what to think. DH said yesterday that he hates what this is doing to me both emotionally and physically and he's not sure if he would be willing to do another round of IVF. I just don't know what to think or feel. I know all hope is not yet gone but it hurts right now and I know you ladies can understand that way better than most. It is not lost on me how much of a miracle it is that our one daughter was born on our second clomid/IUI cycle. I just pray that there is another miracle baby for us as well.
Clomid/IUI #1 Feb 2010- BFN
Clomid/IUI #2 Mar 2010 - BFP April 2010 DD born Dec 2010 :-)
Started TTC #2 Dec 2011
IUI #3-5 Aug thru Oct 2014 - BFN
HSG revealed one blocked tube but was unblocked during procedure
IUI #6 and 7 Nov/Dec 2014 - BFN
IVF #1 Feb 2015 - 19 eggs retrieved, ZERO fertilized initially, 2 fertilized with rescue ICSI, then 2 more then following day, all 4 frozen
@sweetkendall ((HUGE HUGS)) I have a friend that that happened to. It sucks!
~SAIF/PAIF/Everyone Welcome~
Me= 37 and DH = 41
Dx: DOR, Endo, APA+ (really high beta 2 glycoprotein antibody and high everything else tested), heterozygous MTHFR mutation, positive for lupus anticoagulant, high FSH, low AMH and both tubes blocked (per HSG on 3/8/11)
IVF #1 - long lupron (with HGH, intralipids, lovenox and BA); 4 retrieved, 3 fertilized; ET 2 blasts and 1 frozen = BFN
IVF #2 - a version of antagonist with EPP (with HGH, intralipids, lovenox and BA); 6 retrieved, 4 mature, 3 fertilized, 2 blasts and 1 frozen blast transferred on day 5 = BFN.
IVF #3 April was postponed to May, May was canceled. June/July was canceled. Had a cyst aspiration and then began IVF #3 in August. ER on 8/22; ET on 8/24 with AH. +HPT on 9/5. Beta #1 (11dpo) = 3; Beta #2 (15dpo) = 29; Beta #3 (17dpo) = 60; Beta #4 (19 dpo) = 118. Heartbeat at 6 weeks 6 days =132. Lil is here!
Thanks for the support, ladies. I am just not responding how they would like to the meds. I think that something didn't work right when they converted the type of FET protocol. They think the fluid was blood from my uterus starting to deteriorate or something.

@sweetkendall I am so sorry. I can only imagine the shock of all that. Did they say how many eggs were actually mature? Fwiw, we started with 14R, only 8M, and of those only 3 fertilized with ICSI. We ended up with 3 day 5 blasts. Sending tons of positive thoughts towards those 2 embryos. Is a fresh transfer for sure off the table? (Sorry, I'm mobile if that's in your sig)
Two DDs 10/08 and 08/10, no primary IF
TTC #3 since 10/2011 - dx unexplained/weak ovulation
3 BFN clomid + TI cycles, 5 BFN clomid/gonal f IUIs, 1 mmc IUI
2/19/2014 IVF #1 Unexpected low E2 (oversuppressed) -> increased to max doses = 3 or 4 follicles, converting to IUI
BFFP Saw 1 beautiful heartbeat at 6w6d, follow up u/s at 9w showed mmc. Eff this.
NTNP 5/2014-9/2014, OPKs and TI 10/2014 - 1/2015.
RPL testing all normal, AFC, AMH, and FSH all normal.
Diagnosed with Severe Ashermans Hysteroscopy #10 - scar tissue grew back reblocking my right tube #11 or IVF with scarring still inside? 1 lone embryo from September 2016 retreival, dx with Trisomy 16, starting fresh
Jen071407 Yes, a fresh transfer is off the table as the embryos and my uterine lining are out of sync now because of the lag in fertilization. That and I stopped my medrol and progesterone (per doctor's oders) Saturday after we got the news that none had fertilized.
Thanks for all the condolences. It helps to know that I'm not alone in this struggle.
After talking to a doctor friend of mine tonight, she thinks it is possible that a medication that my husband is on could be the cause of the sperm not doing it's job. There is little known about this medication and fertility so we knew there was a chance it could be problematic but had hoped for the best. I'm feeling a little better about it all at this very moment after a good cry earlier. The painful ovaries and general discomfort from the ER doesn't help though. I think I'm off to bed and hopefully we'll have good news on Tuesday.

FET end of October 2014 cancelled due to fluid in uterus due to possible c-scar defect
Surgery scheduled 12/12/14 to fix possible isthmocele
3/26/15 transferred one 8 cell grade 4 embryo and one 6 cell grade 3 embryo = slow rising betas for 2+ weeks = ectopic MTX shot 4/29/15
Repeat c-scar surgery June 2015
2nd and last IVF cycle August 2015, stimmed for 12 days, 2 egg retrieved, both mature and both fertilized. Transferred both 8-cell embryos on Day 3, beta 9/5/15 = BFFN
Oh @STL34, I am so sorry. I am hoping you get further answers!
@Sweetkendall I am sorry that is a roller coaster. I I am praying you don't have to worry about another IVF and that those two will work for you. Hugs!!
I just got word that not only are the 2 we had yesterday dividing, there are 2 more that fertilized somehow. Praise God! So now we have 4 embryos and we will get another update tomorrow. I have no idea about the quality/grading yet but at least there is hope and it's possible that we won't have to do another IVF cycle.

I'm late posting. I'm on CD1. I'm still on progesterone and going to my RE for new blood work in March because my blood hemalized (spelling ?) at the lab before they ran tests and they just let my RE know. DH is still doing shots and supplements. He goes for blood work in March too. Our foster/adoption application has been sent to the state for review and approval so hopefully we will be licensed very soon!
I love living in the country but I would be totally fine with moving back to the beach!
