Military hospital

I'm delivering at a military hospital no one is really giving me answers on where to go or if I am the one to schedule an appointment for my baby or who to talk to. I have no time to go to the child birth classes that they want me to go to and its my second child. So I feel lost I'm new to this military life. Help!!

Re: Military hospital

  • You're just going to have to speak up with them to get your answers. And ask until you get them. In my experiences military hospitals can suck especially communication wise. Military life is def something different. I'm assuming you have tricare prime if you have to deliver on base? If you have tricare standard find a better place to go! I have standard and love it since I personally hate the on base hospitals

  • I delivered my first at a military hospital. Yes you have to make the appointments for yourself and your newborn. If you are transferring from a different post they will already have you're records that you are pregnant and can make an appointment with women's health. If not you have to a e the general practice doctor first so they can refer you.
You spoke of classes that they wanted you to take? Are you trying to do it without any pain meds? That's the only reason I can think that they would "make" you take them. Also, its not too late to take them. When I was pregnant last time, we had a woman that was admitted into the hospital when I took them.
Good luck momma! You'll be fine

  • I will be delivering in a military hospital as well. I have had to switch doctors 3 times so I know how frustrating it can be getting started! Call tricare if you have prime or the hospital appointment hotline and set up any appointments, you might have to make one with your primary care manager first. If you are talking about making appointments for your baby you need to enroll them in deers then make appointments after they're born.
  • Never delivered at a military hospital... But i was born in one.. Big set of advice- get copies of your childs medical records periodically and keep a set, the military has lost mine on several occasions throughout my life!!! I have no records at all.
