Spray paint in the nursery :(

My husband had to spray paint some of the shelving for the baby's closet. It was really cold outside, so without thinking he decided to spray paint the shelving inside the nursery room. He only did one shelf and not completely, but I am now worried about the toxins in the room. We used VOC free paint for everything already and the carpet is being professionally cleaned (as there was also some discoloration) but wondering if this will be enough to make it baby safe? I am hoping we don't have to replace the carpet (even if it is discolored I was hoping we could get an area rug) but I don't want to bring baby home to it if it isn't safe. We have about two months until our due date. Thoughts??

Re: Spray paint in the nursery :(

  • My thought is it's probably just fine. I know you have to be careful with babies, they're more sensitive to chemicals, etc, but 2 months is a long time. Maybe just air it out if you're concerned.
  • Loading the player...
  • Open a window to let everything air out once it's not freezing. Problem solved.
  • It will air out by then and as long as you baby is not chewing on said objects you will be fine and so will your baby
  • I happen to still be alive!! And have yet to see the effects of the smell of paint in a person... Let alone a nephew that licked paint off his fingers. I happen to be a Chalk Paint® stockist, which is very safe, but then again regular paint has never worried me and my 4 kids are healthy and bright. Breath easy girlfriend
