Echogenic intracardiac focus

Just curious for those of us that had one on the heart how did your follow ups go? Did It disappear? I haven't had a follow up ultrasound yet because I'm afraid of going to soon and having it still be there. So I haven't booked anything. The doctor and my midwife both said they don't see the need for any follow up, but if I'd like another ultrasound I can have one....

  • I was told that in the absence of any other markers, it was not a significant finding. I'm taking them at their word (having also scoured the Internet for a second opinion).

  • Our LO's completely disappeared at follow up appointment, which we scheduled only three weeks after 19 week anatomy scan!
The doctor told us not to worry since no other markers were found; they also double checked all markers at follow-up. It was hard not to worry even when told not to, but a huge relief after appointment!
    T&Ps to you and LO!!

Great to hear it went away so quickly!! I am really hoping it goes away for us so I can put my mind at ease. For the most part I'm not worried and I know the chances of a problem are slim, but its always nice to know everything is ok prior to the baby being born!

  • I had one at my 20 wk anatomy scan and it was still present at my follow up at 24 weeks. They are sending me for a 2nd level ultrasound for my own piece of mind. My doctor still says there is nothing to worry about and my mom, who's a labor and delivery nurse is not concerned at all either. I already had tests done at 11 weeks and no chromosome abnormalities were found so I'm hoping it will just go away on its own soon.
