Any mommies out there with Crohn's

I would love to chat with other mommies out there with Crohn's disease. Anything to help me on with going back and forth with constipation and direha and first time mommie. Also would love to have more support with ladies you have had successful pregnancies with cd.

Re: Any mommies out there with Crohn's

  • I don't have Chron's, but I do have pretty severe ibs and while I know it's not the same thing, I have found that activia helped with constipation and mints or gum helps my belly quite a bit. (And the mint thing was a suggestion from a friend with Chron's.) I also don't eat red meat anymore because I've found my body has the hardest time digesting it.

  • Thankyou. I rather have constipation then direha . I go back and forth. Maybe that's why one day my belly is big then next is small lol.... I have ibd too.
  • IBS here too. Will be constipated for a few days, then my gut tries to kill me by getting rid of everything in a 2 hour window. Leaves me feeling like death warmed over and totally washed out for two days. Then it starts all over again.
  • I have IBS as well and I also struggle with fibromyalgia. I too alternate between constipation and diarrhea. I have to take fiber every day and I find sometimes that works to regulate it a little bit better. Also drink tons of water.
  • I have Crohn's Disease and I'm also a first time mom. Right now I'm not alternating between diarrhea and constipation, it's just constipation! This is really strange for me, as typically I have soft stools (not necessarily diarrhea most of the time, but soft). I'm also afraid to take any fiber products, since they're not typically good for CD.

While I have severe Crohn's, it's currently controlled by medication (Remicade). What are you on for it? Do you know if you'll be able to stay on? I have an appointment with my GI soon to discuss options.
  • I have Crohns also and suffering from constipation! It's extremely painful especially when my chrohns decides it's time for my bowels to move. I'll be in pain for hoursss!
  • My Crohn's has been in remission during my pregnancy thus far with Cimzia. But I still get painful constipation. I usr prune juice and go to the bathroom within the hour.
  • I also have crohn's at first I had really bad constipation and switched to a vitamin with no iron this helped a lot but, now I have bad diarrhea. My ob said I would likely like to switch back to iron down the road but for now this has provided some relief from the constipation .
  • Hi Jen. I'm not on any Crohn's medication because I perfer not to chance it with my Bella:)
  • I have had crohns since I was 12 yrs old. In 2009 I was on remicade and was able to have my daughter but after having her I had an allergic reaction to remicade and had to stop. Ever since then it's been a struggle to find medications that would calm my crohns or was even "baby safe". I went to see a GI at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester MN who is amazing. She specializes in women with crohns and pregnancy. With her help and my regular GI we tried the latest medication Entyvio which I have been on since August 2014. I ended up getting C-diff in November which stopped the TTC process but was able to get pregnant in December and i'm now 12 weeks. I understand the struggles as well as trying to manage a difficult disease it's not FUN!
