Swollen achey knees

Is this normal? I'm only 20 weeks and still quite tiny. I do more laying around than I should but yesterday I was on my feet for most of the day. Could that be why? Or just good ol pregnancy symptoms? What can I do for the pain? I would rather not take Tylenol.

Re: Swollen achey knees

  • I just deal with the pain. To my knowledge, it is normal.

  • Swelling and pain in you legs, ankles and feet is pretty normal in pregnancy from my experience. Try to get on the couch and elevate your legs. Should help with the swelling.

  • There's a great thread today on pregnancy symptoms. I might post there and see what advice you get.

  • I bartend so I work on my feet all night long and get swollen achy ankles. My OB just gave me the all clear to use Icy Hot or Tiger Balm on them to help the discomfort after. Apparently these remedies are kinda a hot button topic tho, not everybody agrees they are safe to use (some people believe either the menthol or the camphor are bad for the baby), so ask your Dr first.

  • I stand on my feet for about 8 hours roughly a day, when I get home my feet and ankles are usually swollen and very achy. I do sit when I can and if it's not busy in the store I will pull the chair out and sit right there. Hard to get my feet elevated but it's better than nothing. And that's all the doc told me to do. My family doc and ob just told me to sit when I can and when I get home get my feet up. Some nights are worse than others but so far not too too bad. They swell just enough to say they are swollen. So here's hoping it stays that way.
  • I was just prescribed some support hose from my dr. Makes sure you get a prescription because they are expensive! I paid $8 for $70 hose. They hell tremendously.
