Night toilet trips

i mean seriously, I go more at night than I do in the day! What's all that about?...And that's a lot as we all know.
I don't drink much before bed but my god, I must have gone 7 times last night, and the night before that. My sleep is constantly interrupted.

Anyone else suffering the same?

Re: Night toilet trips

  • It's 5 am and I've been awake for an hour. I only go twice per night but it always takes me awhile to get back to sleep the second time. I think it's because I'm hungry!

  • I typically go every 2 hours most nights. I can go longer spans than that during the day! It is so frustrating do you're definitely not alone. I get so excited if I get like a 4 hour span of sleep without getting up to pee!
  • 4:45 and I up for the third time to go to the bathroom and I'm starving right now. So frustrating

  • Not just me then ladies! I could cope with a couple of times, but this is hourly.

Takes me a while to go off after the 6th time! I just can't get my head round were it all comes from. I sound like my other half when he first gets up (peeing like a race horse springs to mind)

Plus we have a huge Alaskan Malamute that sleeps in the most awkward of places, doorways mainly for the cold, plus because she's black, white and grey she blends in to the darkness, which is fun when your half asleep and desperate for a pee... Not! Guaranteed every trip to the loo the dogs moved so more fun and games trying not to break my neck :^o

obvious answer, yep, turn the light on. Pregnancy brain doesn't see the logic in that so I continue to struggle every night. This is what I have to contend with at night....

  • I know this isn't about your dog but.... OMG I AM IN LOVE!!!! Be careful, mama!!! No falling!!!!!

  • I put a night lite in the bathroom and living room so when I get up in the middle of the night I can see without turning the lights on.
  • I think I read that your body might be retaining water during the day and when you sleep and are laying down it gets filtered back into the blood and therefore needs to come out...

  • Awe!! He is soooo pretty!!! I have two black labs and the same problem. If the vet checked them out they might think we abuse them due to bruises they must have as a result of me tripping over them all the time!! I feel so bad, but I think they still love me!

Aaaah thank you! It's been driving me mad why I'm going so much x

    Hahaha love it x
  • I am so tired lately, I am asleep by 8:30 (I used to stay up until midnight) and now I am up at 12 and 4 every night, and sometimes more.   After my 4:00 trip, I have the hardest time falling back asleep.

  • It's a pain isn't it? You would think our little ones would give us a break at night but nope... 7 times is my record so far. Wish it was just twice like some of you ladies.
Wonder why it takes us so long to go back to sleep. Hormones have a lot answer for :-?
  • I am also waking multiple times to go to the bathroom and struggling to fall back asleep because of hunger pangs and stomachache. I've been having a couple crackers each time I wake even though that's the last thing I want to do. It helps ease the hunger so I can fall back asleep.

    Might try that. Thanks x
  • I knew I read it somewhere...but I don't exactly notice any swelling. "You may also have to pee more often during the night, especially if you have a lot of swelling in your lower limbs and feet. When you lie down, your legs are level with your upper body. This makes it easier for your blood to carry some of the fluid you retained during the day to your bladder – now that it doesn't have to work against gravity."

  • I go pee twice sometimes 3 times before actually falling asleep. Usually within a 30 minute time period. Then I'm up and down all night. Does it get any better?

I understand about the whole tripping over animals. I have 2 cats, black and Russian blue. You can't see them sprawled out on the floor at night either. It's a straight shot to the bathroom from my bed. You'd think they'd learn their lesson from being kicked and stepped on every few nights! Lol!

@VaultGirl101‌ That's a good point I forgot to mention, the actual falling asleep process.. Ohh yes at least 3 times in 30 mins.
I get up exhausted and a tad annoyed as I know, it's not going to be the first trip before I nod off..... I find myself sleepily saying under my breath
"why can't it all just come out now?"
  • Try drinking a nice sized glass of whole milk before bed. I still get up to pee twice in the night, but I fall back to sleep much easier and don't wake up hungry anymore.
  • I go once during the night (I go to bed late around 1am) and it's usually @ 4am but it's so hard trying to fall back asleep.
  • I am up literally every hour. Fortunately I'm pretty good about falling back to sleep. What pisses me off, offs they aren't even full pees!
  • I notice I drink a lot more in the evening so hence I need to pee a thousand times. It only gets worse from here. I would have killed for a catheter last pregnancy lol The worst is feeling like you need to pee but nothing coming out.

Tip: lean forward to the ground when you pee it empties your bladder better according to my doctor.
  • @Mufflerlove‌ thanks. I'll try that.

Last night was a god send. Three times I got up and straight back to sleep yaaaay.

First time since I found out I was pregnant.... although, I think subconsciously I didn't drink as much last night, hence me peeing less. Did find myself needing a drink after the loo. Literally I had a mouthful, wanted a good night sleep for once.

I literally have the same thing happen to me every night! It makes me crazy!
