Hey guys. I posted earlier about transitional BV with lots of views but no replies. My dr perscribed flagyl to treat since this is the second time the swab came up with that result.
Is it safe to take ? I know my doctor wouldn't perscribe it if I didn't need it but im worried it might hurt the baby. Anyone else take this medication and everything was alright ?
Please reply. I'm really nervous. My son has already been diagnosed with a minor birth defect and I just don't want to subject him to anything else.

Re: Flagyl and pregnancy
The pharmacist said the benefits outweigh the risks. It's becuase I'm only in the transitional phase that makes me nervous about be treat d at all . thanks for your reply
Thanks for your reply.
I have looked it up and I'm on the right meds. My dose is 500mg twice a day for a week.
Pretty positive I've read that it can actually cause a yeast infection rather than cure one .
I'm still nervous to take it but I know treating the infection is important. It's just scary to put something in your body that the baby is going to get as well
Yes, it's called metronidazole ! I used the term flagyl, bc I think that's what they call it in the states. Oh trust me, I'm eating all the yogurt I can get my hands on so I can be done with this . It's hard knowing what the right thing to do when taking meds during pregnancy, especially when the baby already has an issue ( during 20 week US it was discovered there is a high suspicion for cleft lip and palate ) and when I don't have full blown BV. My doc decided to treat bc my swabs take. 7 weeks apart showed a transition to BV. How far along were you when you took it?

I was 13 weeks and 15 weeks when I took the antibiotics. Almost 16 weeks when I did two seperate doses of the diflucan 150 mg dose.
