TWW and testing out trigger

I'm convinced either the pg tests are bad or the ovidrel shot didn't work. I am 6 dpt and I was trying to test out my trigger but all tests are negative. I am going to buy more tests today, but am I doing something wrong? I keep thinking I am supposed to wait to test out the trigger but I didn't know when so I just started testing right away. Anyway, if someone knows please fill me in here lol.

Re: TWW and testing out trigger

  • Kimismurf are you 6dp5dt or 6dp3dt?

Did you start testing out your trigger after ER?

Are you using FRER to test for the trigger?

  • I "think" she's 6 days post trigger, not transfer.  I could be wrong though.  What kind of pregnancy tests are you using?  I tested mine out a few times and it was gone by 7 days post-trigger.  I think everyone's different, but if you really want to know, I'd take a FRER.  Out of curiosity, did you feel anything in the days after your triggered?  I don't feel ovulation when not medicated, but since taking the trigger shot, I can totally feel when I ovulate - my ovaries get achy.

  • Yes, days post trigger. I am using the hcg test strips I bought on amazon.com. today I bought some pg tests from the store so I will try that in the morning. I triggered last Tuesday first thing in the morning and had some cramping about 12 hours later. It only lasted about 30 minutes though. My doctor said the trigger would make me ovulate 24 to 48 hours after the shot so I thought 12 hours after was too soon for it to be ovulation and that wasn't it. I'm not sure what frer is but I will look it up.
  • Frer is the First Response early results pregnancy tests. They are more sensitive that other tests. Just make sure you don't use a blue dye test they are crap.

  • Okay, I was not using FRER but the amazon strips are really cheap and probably not very sensitive. I got more and I'll use one of those in the morning. Or knowing me I will hold my pee for the rest of the day and try one at bedtime tonight. I bought 5 of them so I have plenty.
  • When I say I got more I meant I actually went to the store and got real ones. No more cheap Internet strips for me.
  • Hmm. I'm using the cheap ones still too. I might invest in a couple days.
  • @Kimismurf‌ the wondfos from amazon are good usually.
If you get a neg on the frer then you know the cheepies were working.

  • Yes, I also used the Wondfos.  There was a thread on TTGP a bit ago though saying there were some counterfeit Wondfos out there, so just be sure when you're ordering them that the company you use is a health supply store.  The telling fact seemed to be that when people went on the store's site, it was often an electronics store.  I got some myself and when I went back to Amazon, everything else the seller sold was radio equipment.  :(

  • I tried one that I bought at the store today. It's not a first response but I still got a negative. Today is 5 days post trigger so you would think the hcg would cause a positive test result. I'm kind of bummed. After everything I have been through, and the fact that the trigger shot cost me $175, and I feel like it didn't work. There is still hope I guess.

  • @kinderschitz When do you plan on testing?
I caved and tested already BFN this morning but a very faint line on Saturday night... but I'm guessing that was still the trigger since it was 10 dp trigger.

  • I had labs done yesterday morning to see if I ovulated. They haven't called me yet. It's too early for me to test to see if I'm prego. I was just trying to test out the ovidrel trigger shot.
  • Good luck @Kimismurf‌ , I hope you ovulated.

  • They still haven't called with the lab results. Yesterday my sister had an appointment with the same doctor and he sent the nurse to check the results while she was there with him and they still weren't back yet. I thought for sure the results would be in by now. He did say that because of the way my body is that I probably metabolized the shot faster which would explain the cramping i had at 12 hours post trigger, and why the pg test isn't picking up the hcg. I'm going to start testing on Friday I think.
  • The doctor just called with my lab results and it shows that I didn't ovulate. I have been ttc for over 4 years and this just makes me sad. I am wondering if the ovidrel shot was from a bad batch. That would certainly explain why it never showed up in my system. I will be calling the pharmacy tomorrow about it. The doctor wants me to start provera tomorrow but I think I will wait until Monday just to make sure nothing is in there. This sucks so bad.
  • Wow. I'm sorry @Kimismurf‌ that's terrible. Do you work with a mail pharmacy (fertility specific)?
  • I'm so sorry @kimismurf!  I've never heard of anyone not ovulating after a trigger.  Good luck with the pharmacy.
