Pregnant after 35

Movement at 24 weeks

I might be overly worried because that's just my nature but over the last 2 days I feel like baby boy is just not very active! It's kind of concerning me. Usually, he's active when I'm not active. Anytime I'm sitting for a period of time or in bed at night.. that's when I start feeling him the most. Almost every single day between 9-10am.. he starts going crazy.. bopping all over the place.  He didn't do that Saturday, yesterday, or today. Saturday and Sunday I thought maybe it was because I was running around a lot and I was cleaning the house and I wasn't really sitting much. But today I've been at my desk all morning at work and I only felt one little tiny nudge earlier today.  I drank a little bit of caffeine.. I ate my sandwich.. still nothing. I was seen last Thursday and heartbeat was fine. Next appt is Wednesday. I was thinking about just calling my OB to see if they could get me in this afternoon instead of Wednesday.  I don't know that I've noticed a distinct pattern at this point but he's definitely been active and has consistently been active.  I'll be 24 weeks on Wednesday. I started feeling kicks around 19 weeks.

Re: Movement at 24 weeks

  • What you describe sounds exactly like my daughter around that time in my pregnancy with her. Sometimes she would move a lot, and then a sudden decrease in movement. I was extremely worried. I did end up going to an extra ultrasound just to ease my worries, and I think this is a wise thing to do. Of course while at the doctor's she was most active ever!
But the doctors told me it is always a good idea to come in when you are concerned.

  • superlowamh that's exactly what I did! I decided instead of making myself crazy with worry.. to just call my OB.  So he saw me a bit ago. Of course, he felt three movements just while checking heartbeat which was 150's and normal.  But he did order an ultrasound which I have to leave for now.  He said he would rather just check and make sure that things look good..then send me home with any doubts which I appreciate! I'm glad I went because I was starting to obsess about it.

  • Biophysical ultrasound was fantastic!! Baby boy was even practicing his breathing. Moving all over. Heart was normal. Cervix good. I'm SOO relieved! I think he just wanted to show off his skills because I swear the last 2.5 days he has hardly moved! That's why I waited to call until 1pm today because usually he's moving all around. When he didn't I got worried

  • Yay it all turned out great, but it's always best to get it checked. Better to put your mind at ease then worrying.

    Pregnancy Ticker
  • that happens a lot at that point in pregnancy.  It is before you can feel absolutely every tiny move they do.  Also , it is not determinable, at that point , when you are moving around a lot to feel most of their movements.  Sometimes babies do go thru lazy spells too.  Even further in pregnancy there will be times when they just move a lot less than the average.  You will find the same after they are born, however.  They get more sleepy spells.  Remember , they are growing like crazy inside you and to support that growth they need lots of sleep.
