Pumping Pre Delivery

HI!!
FTM here. Just about 28 weeks. I'm solely going to pump for personal reasons. My question is I thought it might be a good idea to freeze colostrum, if possible pre-delivery. Was wondering if anyone has done this? I know each woman is different but thinking benefits of having or will it be such a small amount that I may as well wait.
Thanks ladies!!

Re: Pumping Pre Delivery

  • I don't go here anymore because The Bump has become a huge joke.  But I couldn't just leave this post be.

Please do not pump before you have your LO.  Pumping stimulates your nipples, which is a proven way to give yourself contractions.  You DO NOT want to do this before you deliver. Please don't pump until LO comes.

If you are planning on EP, rent a hospital grade pump and you will need to pump around the clock for at least a few weeks.  Good luck. Again, please do not pump before LO gets here.

  • Pumping before your baby is here is not a good way to establish your supply and is not a good idea. Moms who EP, follow a round the clock pumping schedule after their babies are born to establish their supply.
