A little paranoid

Stm if you are already feeling movement what time of day do you usually feel it and in what location? I'm a stm 16 weeks and am being a little paranoid that I occasionally have felt something and then on some days I feel nothing.

Re: A little paranoid

  • I'm a third time mom and almost 19 weeks and still feel very little infrequent movements. I have an anterior placenta which is cushioning most of the movement. Don't stress too much. I'm sure everything is fine!

At this point the movement is so infrequent that you shouldn't be worried. You don't start monitoring movement until you are much farther along. Of course if your worried talk to your Dr but I wouldn't worry.

ETA: I feel the baby maybe once a day or maybe every other day. It's not consistent at all.
Please excuse typos....auto correct hates me. =)

  • Right now, the fact that tou feel the baby only sometimes IS NORMAL!! ;)

Once you are farther along you will feel baby more.
  • After I eat, and when I'm laying down. I think it's normal that it's infrequent
  • It's normal for it to be sparatic at that time
  • 3rd time mother 18 weeks and 5 days and still no movement. I'm beginning to realize each little human has their own individual presonality. This one I'm carrying is extremely chill..
  • STM here, 17 weeks 5 days and barely any movement at all. Maybe felt baby 5 times total and the last time I'm sure I felt it was a week ago today. I try to lie down and be extra still to see if I pick up on anything and nada. It makes me anxious but I have to remind myself every baby is different and I have an anterior placenta so that could be why. My anatomy scan isn't until the 23rd so I'm considering calling the nurse to see if I can go in to listen to the heartbeat to ease my nerves.

  • I'm 19w4d and had my anatomy scan on Monday...I have an anterior placenta and am a FTM.  I have felt the baby just a few times and started only in the last week.  During my scan he (the baby) was moving all over the place, so much so that the sonographer had to just stop a couple times to let him settle down before trying to measure anything again.  We would just watch him wiggle for a few moments and I never felt a thing the entire time I saw him squirming around.  I read over the weekend in What to Expect (book) that at this stage there is still so much space and fluid that it is very normal for you to feel the baby very sporadically and can go days in between feeling movement.  This is exagerated when you have an anterior placenta.  Hope that helps ease your worry!
  • 5th time mom here! Yes, I can especially relate to you, I'm 18 weeks and a few days ago the baby was so still, I didn't feel much movement at all. But I must admit that i am very busy and would try and look for a movement when I had time to focus on it. a thought occurred to me when I was worrying that I haven't felt the baby that much. When babies are born they have growth spurts and tend to sleep more often those days. So maybe it's no different in the womb, their growth rate is spectacular so maybe that's what it is...... Just growing!
