Welcome Riley Anna!

Last Monday at my dr appt, my U/s showed that my fluid level was low. At the time my dr said to come back weds to follow up and if it was still low--we would be going for induction.

Wednesday's appointment came and my fluid had actually decreased so I was sent to the hospital (38w +6).

I checked in at 1:30 and they started pitocin at 3. Had some contractions but nothing painful. At 9pm my dr came by to check on my progress and broke my water. Shortly after that, I got an epidural...but unfortunately it only was working on the right side of my body. The anesthesiologist and nurses tried for 2-3 hours to correct the issue (while I was feeling all the contractions on my left side). Finally around 1:30 am they decided to take out my epidural and start a new one. Luckily that one worked right away and I was able to doze off a few times throughout the night.

At about 9am the nurse said we would try pushing. My first set of pushes (still on epidural) the nurse lost the baby's heartbeat and couldn't find it for a few minutes. She pushed the "red button" on the wall and threw an oxygen mask on me and several other staff rushed in. Luckily they were able to find the heartbeat after a few minutes and all was fine but that was the scariest thing I've ever experienced!

After a few unsuccessful pushes, they turned off my epidural. I started pushing again around 10:30 and once enough progress was made, they called my dr to the hospital. Waiting for her to arrive (and being told not to push) was rough! Once the dr arrived I had maybe 4-5 sets of pushing and our baby girl was here!!

She was born at 11:54am on Thursday 2/5 and was 8lb 1oz and 21 3/4 inches long! She is so perfect and beautiful and I just cannot believe that this little miracle grew inside of me!!
