Help with Crib Transition Please!

Hello! My baby is 4 1/2 months old and we're trying to get her to go to sleep in her crib instead of the pack n play in our bedroom because she is getting way too big to fit in the concave bassinet cradle. She will not sleep on her back, she sleeps on her side and if she falls onto her back will wake up instantly and start crying. She is good to sleep in her crib on her side for maybe half an hour before she rolls onto her back and wakes up. I really don't know how to get her to stay asleep in her crib on her back. We tried leaving her in there and letting her cry while checking on her every ten minutes to put her pascifier back in and say goodnight and roll her onto her side again but after doing that for an hour we normally give up and end up putting her with us in the too small bassinet. Any advice would be helpful please, she does not like being swaddled either by the way.

  • I know they have sleep positioners, but have also heard comments about their safety. We haven't researched. Our LO is okay on his back in the merlin sleep suit but I think will eventually turn into a side sleeper. When we transitioned to the crib we did a lot to make the space feel smaller as the PP noted. After a couple rough nights, he does fine now.

  • Never heard of a merlin sleep suit, I'll look into it thanks. Nothing else seems to work so might as well give it a go; or maybe hope that she will just hit an age where she suddenly likes the crib lol.

  • Nicb13 Can I just say that I love you and thank you. After reading your post I tried your suggestion with the rolled blankets. I figured it couldn't hurt since it was using things we already had and LO is now sleeping in his crib at night without any trouble.
