May 2015 Moms

I know the answer, but humor me please.

Hello lovely ladies. I hope everyone is feeling at least somewhat decent!

I've not been so lucky and decided to bring it here to see how many of you are feeling the same.
This isn't too much of a concern that I need to hop off the interwebs and call my doctor, but just to be on the safe side I'll ask these questions when I go in on Wednesday.

Anyone else feeling so very full after eating a small amount of food or drinking a small amount of drink?
I mean goodness...I used to be able to put some food away and was always starving and now I can't.
I know its because uterus/baby is growing and pushing on organs and moving them upwards/to the side, but it feels like this happened overnight.

Last night I made vegetable beef soup and it was SO tasty, but after a few bites I just couldn't finish it and the bowl wasn't too big at all.
I had left over shrimp fried rice for lunch today...not much of it at all and I finished, but felt SO full.
I couldn't finish an apple...lol.

I'm just curious how many ladies are experiencing this. When did it start for you? How small of meals are you having to eat now and how often?

I've not started eating smaller meals yet because I honestly I hate the thought of eating every 2-3 hours, but its seeming I'm going to have to do this now!

  • Yes! Just a few weeks ago I could eat and eat and eat. Now I eat a few bites and I'm stuffed but then I'm starving a few hours later. I've started eating smaller meals six times a day with snacks in-between. I think eating more protein rich food is the way to go since protein is what makes you feel fuller longer.

What types of things do you eat for snacks? I could always use new ideas for those...typically I just eat an apple, lol. It gets boring after a while.

  • This sounds completely normal and it probably will only get worse until May, but just keep thinking it will all be worth it in the end!

Theres no doubt that shes worth it! I never thought I'd have the chance to be a mommy. I complain about being uncomfortable sometimes, but honestly I'm glad to experience every single thing that pregnancy has to offer...except constipation, never that lol.

Peanut butter is a good source of protein so dip the apple in some maybe? Or put some on crackers. Yummmm I love peanut butter. Quinoa is also good for protein sake. Not sure if you've ever tried it, but it is good. Different, but good.

I can't say that I've ever tried Quinoa. My husband is about the pickiest person that I know, but lately I've been getting stuff that I like regardless of if he will eat it or not, haha. :)
Thank you for the suggestions. I don't know how I forgot about peanut butter and apples!

  • I'm still able to eat full meals but I instantly feel AWFUL and so uncomfortably full after I've eaten. It still hasn't stopped me from doing so though, lol. I'm sure I'll have to change my habits soon...

This is me too! I am SO uncomfortable after I eat. But I just eat anyway.... I'm always so hungry! And then I hate myself for feeling like total CRAP. Ahhh pregnancy. Is it May yet?!

I was starting to feel this way last week and then had a very rude awakening Friday night. I'm from Chicago and our family sent us frozen Deep Dish pizza! I was so excited that I ate 2 slices and then spent the whole night throwing up! Needless to say I've been eating very small, bland meals since and still feel like I'm going to toss my cookies!
  • Baby pushes everything up even your stomach gets pushed up and has less room to expand like your lungs. It's normal.
  • Not me. I eat too much and feel like poo, then spend the night in the bathroom puking. I really have no self control when I'm pregnant!
  • I love food and I suddenly have found I can only have small meals, several times a day. I'm adjusting with healthy snacks (most of the time). It makes me worry sometimes that I'm not eating enough for baby.
  • Yes, it's totally normal. I'm getting there, too. I took two tums after dinner tonight. :( I regret it every time I eat a bigger meal.

I do remember last time getting to the point when I'd swallow and it felt like food wasn't moving down past my neck, it was so crowded in there. I guess that's why weight gain slows so much right at the end for a lot of women.

  • Yes, but I just eat smaller meals more often now or I feel sick from hunger!
  • I have to eat small meals throughout the day too or else I'll get "hangry."
  • I wish I had this problem. I eat everything I see. I have lost all form of self control and the fact that everyone around me says "it's ok, eat some for the baby" is not helping.

My definition of "some" cookies is half of a box of chewy chips ahoy cookies. Ugh.

My normally tiny 5'4" 115 lb frame is now draped in an enormous layer of "baby fat". Thankfully, my old navy maternity jeans do their best to hold in the giant mass that has come to be known as "dat ass".

I pray for relief and redemption from my burdensome figure as I make plans to order P90x and eat salad after this baby girl comes.

LMAO, this is me. I swear...especially if I don't want what is available to me. I get hangry. My husband doesn't understand it and he really doesn't understand when I cry because I want food. I mean...who does that? Lol! I'll have an actually breakdown and ugly cry and everything.

I bet you're cute, lol. I was never thin by any means, but my goodness...I realized the other day at 6 months that I'm pregnant or something because I had a minor melt down.
I cried to my husband "This is the one time its acceptable for me to gain weight since I was fat anyway and now I don't want to because I'll need to have a wall torn down to get out of the house to deliver the baby!"

It obviously really isn't that terrible, but I feel like my belly just...reaches things way before I do, lol.
