20w ultra sound

Went in for my anatomy scan and was/still am a little worried they want me to come back in 4 weeks to get another scan done. The lady was acting very weird and we asked what was going on and she said she would be back that she needed to talk to the dr. She came back and said she just couldnt see some of the pictures clearly so we needed to come back? We asked her if there was something to worry about and she said no but I still have an unsettling feeling and cannot stop thinking about it.

With my first my little stinker was so stubborn and wouldn't move so they couldn't get a lot of the measurements and stuff that they needed and they had me go back 2 weeks later. It was nothing to worry about and I was just excited that I got to see him again! I haven't had my anatomy scan yet this time but hopefully baby will be more cooperative!

I'd call your doctor for some clarification. Waiting an entire month sounds odd.

I have to go back next week for more scans because they couldn't get enough pictures of the heart since my little one wouldnt move. It is 100% normal to have to go back in. I wouldn't freak out to much, everything on the baby is so tiny right now, its hard to see everything they need especially if they baby wont move in the right direction.

I went last Friday and have to go back next Thursday because she was moving around too much so they couldn't get a clear picture of her heart or face. If you read some of the stories in the anatomy scan post at the top their are a lot of different stories about everyones anatomy scans.

I was at the early end of the window for my a/s so I had to reschedule for four weeks later so they can get a better look at the heart and a few other things. That's next week for me. It's really common to have to go back.

Don't worry, seems like a few of us went through this. Pictures aren't perfect... And the drs want them as perfect as magazine pictures apparently. Lol

I think if it was something really serious, they would have mentioned something at the time and not make you wait four long weeks to go back. I can understand why you would be worried, but just try to relax and stay positive!

Had my 20 week ultrasound yesterday and I wanted to find out the sex of our baby. My husband is completely against finding out. The doctor had to quickly look for me while my husband kept his eyes closed. He whispered boy, but I couldn't see it at all. With my last pregnancy it was so easy to see that he was a boy. I asked the doctor to please look again and he did, and said "pretty sure"... what does that mean? It looked like nothing to me. I don't know if maybe I'm just in denial and hoping he is wrong because I really want a girl, or if there is a chance he is wrong? With my son, he said he was 90% sure it was a boy. Any thoughts? I will be happy for a healthy baby either way, but am I a bad person for wanting him to be wrong?

This happened to me. I went back two weeks later and had a different ultrasound tech and my doctor confirmed everything looks normal. Hopefully it's the same for you! I find some of the ultrasound techs I've had to be less than personable!

Same here! They only got two of the four pics they needed of the heart but everything appeared normal. I go back next Monday (and to take the test for GD-fun). OP, did you meet with the doctor after your initial scan? It sounds like lots of us have had to go back.

I'm going back this Thursday for a follow-up scan. They said it was to check on baby's growth. So you might just have to go back because things were too small and like PP's said, maybe they didn't get good enough pictures. Wishing you the best!

Probably just need more/better pictures. We were there for over an hour and I was seen by three separate people with no explanation initially - at the end of it the resident was like "well, your baby won't get off the right foot so we can't rule out club foot in that one but we saw the left foot extend for a few seconds so we think that one is fine. We'll just make a note for your doctor". Sometimes that's just the way the cookie crumbles (baby won't cooperate) - I'm sure if they had experienced trouble getting a view of more important things like vital organs they would have asked me to come back. Don't sweat it - they probably just weren't able to get a proper look at something and want to try again later.

Mine was today and baby boy moved way too much so we never got a good face shot. I have to go back in 4 weeks.

Our's was so much fun and baby was apparently "super cooperative" so it didn't last long. In and out in less than 10 minutes. I'm kind of jealous of these 1 hour long scans. Lol

Everything was good, with the exception of my anterior placenta, which may turn out to not be a big deal, so can't complain.

So happy I found this thread. I have been terrified. The U/s tech couldn't get all the measurements. And asked me to come back. But then they decided to send me maternal fetal medicine. Hopefully everything is ok!!!!
