February 2015 Moms

Help!

Hi everyone! My due date is Wednesday (2/11) and it just doesn't seem like my baby wants to come. I have tried walking, jumping, sex, and pineapple. Maybe other things that I can't think of right now. What can I do to help this process? I'm not even sure if my mucous plug has came out and I've been at a 1 since I was 37 weeks. Along with that I'll get contractions that won't stay long or become more frequent, like they just go away. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Re: Help!

  • It's really normal for pregnancies to go beyond 40 weeks. The due date is more of an estimate. Your baby will come when it's ready to come.

  • I guess I'm just so impatient that it's making the days 20 times longer lol! This is my first child so I'm really anxious to see him and hold him. I've been relaxing and taking naps too so I guess I'll just keep playing the waiting game.
  • Agree with pp. The days seem longer when all you are doing is searching for ways to get him to come out. My due date is also 2/11 and I'm counting down the days. But at the same time... How disappointing is it going to be if he goes over your due date?
  • It's going to be so disappointing if he goes over because I don't want to be induced just because this is my first one and I want to experience the rush of my water breaking and not knowing
  • My due date is the 11th as well! Baby has dropped, but I have no idea if I'm dialated at all, MW hasn't done an internal exam yet, she will.be doing one on the 10th. As for the mucus plug I have no idea either if I've lost mine, guess cause I'm not to sure what to look for because some people describe it as really looking like mucus from your nose and others just say it was just an increase in discharge. I really hope I don't have to be induced though, my MW will let me go for two weeks before they make the appointment, but I'm trying anything to get the little guy to come on his own.
  • Bright side, unless you go significantly over or have some other medical condition, missing your due date doesn't guarantee an induction. Baby will come sooner or later.
  • Speaking to someone who is already over (40+2) and only 1 1/2 cm, it is hard just waiting but that is the only thing we can do. Today is the exception because I am doing the "DO NOT HAVE A BABY TODAY" dance...it is MIL's bday. You never know-your little one may show up sooner than later!!

Haha or indeed 20 times longer! I started watching Breaking Bad to try and get hooked on something, and I try to do a lot of busy work every day to make the day go by faster. I can imagine you don't want to be induced! That's the sucky part of your baby being in the driver's seat. But as soon as you hold him/her in your arms hopefully all will be forgotten :)
If it's any consolation, waters only break spontaneously in about 10% of deliveries so the chances are you wouldn't be missing out on that anyway :P

Us too we r warching revenge :)

The Walking Dead starts again today!! That'll at least take up an hour. And then me and my fiance usually talk and argue about it for another 30 minutes.
  • At least I'm not the only one going through this. I just tell everyone he is like his daddy, STUBBORN lol. And I've been watching Criminal Minds on Netflix, napping, working still and odd and end stuff to take up time
  • My OB suggested massaging the ankles. Apparently it helps stimulate labor.

  • I have never heard that one but heck I'll try it! I'm desperate
  • I'm 2/11 too....we still have some days to go. Settle in, it'll happen when it happens me thinks.
  • Most women are pregnant up to and past their due dates. Sounds like you're normal. Hang in there.

  • You can try drinking Red raspberry tea leaf or ask your dr. If she can do a sweeping of the membrane. I hope this helps GL
  • I was equally as impatient so I hope you take this with the best of wishes for you. I did everything you listed, castor oil, pineapple, walking, sex, accupucture, Everything!!!!!

The result I went into heavy labour on Thursday at 8pm with back labour contractions every 7 mins apart. They progressed to 4 mins for almost an hour and died off at hour 12. Then they began again more intense that evening at 6pm now 2-5 mins apart, went to the hospital only 1cm and sent home. After 44 hrs of labour, still only 1cm they finally admitted me to be induced. All my forcing my body to try to start labour only ended up confusing things and making baby and I exhausted.

As a follow impatient mommy please do try to let your body go naturally. I have definately learned my lesson ;)

  • Hi raspberry leaf tea doesn't help start labour but can help the labour run smoother , it has some vitamins in also & can help reduce after birth bleeding , I'm expecting my 5th in a week & I drink raspberry leaf tea 3 times aday , baby will come when ready no matter what old wives tales you try , good luck to all x

Lol I am doing the same thing!! Tomorrow is my MIL's Bday! My due date was 2/4. All I want is for him to at least by pass it by a day!!
  • I heard only medically proven way to kick start labor is nipple stimulation.
