I think the shock is still setting in since finding out I am pregnant. I had a miscarriage at 5 weeks when I was 40, so of course I am very worried. I'm just about at 6 weeks. Zero symptoms still, which worries me. Hcg was 1,840 right at 5 week mark. Progesterone was quite low at 6.8, Doctor did not seem to think that was too low and told me if I wanted to take progesterone it was up to me! Of course I felt it was best too and my dear friend also suggested to get on them asap. I've been taking 200 mg a day for 1 week now. Need to go back for hcg and progesterone test...scared! I could not find a highly recommended ob/gyn to see me until January 29th. If anyone is located in Manhattan, please let me know if you know of any good ob-gyns. I guess I am high risk due to age and prior miscarriage but doctor (gyn) didn't say I'm high risk ?!
Very excited, but cautiously so! Congratulations to all out there who have found out they are expecting and I am wishing all of you a smooth, uncomplicated healthy pregnancy!!
Re: Pretty shocked at 43! Any NYC recs, please?
I was in a very similar situation with this pg. multiple m/c's and low progesterone. It was 5.7. I took the progesterone, knowing that it would not save my pg if there were probs. I was told I would prob m/c.
And then I was told I would prob m/c due to my age. I'll be 43 this month. So needless to say I was very scared. I had 4 early u/s due to a SH. Baby kept meeting her milestones and growing and growing. My Panorama test came back low risk for all categories. We are now 21 weeks and just had our anatomy scan last week. Everything looks, in the docs words, perfect!
Also no symptoms besides sore boobs until 7 weeks.
I'm still nervous. But I never thought I would get this far. Every day I progress and every kick I feel I am very grateful to have made it this far and I get more and more certain that May might happen.
So really I just wanted to let you know that low progesterone and previous m/c's doesn't alway mean that there are problems.
I wish you the very best for both you and your little bean.
I've had several early miscarriages and they never considered me HR. It wasn't until my late loss at almost 20 weeks that they switched me to HR.
Good luck!!
If you are otherwise healthy your age (I am 42 pregnant with my 8th child) most likely will not class you as high risk either, unless you develop something during pregnancy that would change that.
Congratulations
