It's getting hot in here...

Hi all,
This is the first thread I've ever started and I have searched this topic so I hope it doesn't annoy anyone posting this.
Just wondering if anyone else is having the same old argument about the house temperature with their OH? Im 35wks and hot all the time, despite it snowing here last week! He says he's freezing (and to be fair he is layering up) and that I could go outside to cool down if I'm that hot. Every time the radiators come on (and they are down so low) I want to turn them off again. At the moment I'm sticking to my guns of saying I'm a lot more uncomfortable than he is and he will just have to deal with it until baby is here. Mean or justified? What do you think? Anyone found a solution to this?? Thanks in advance

I know how you feel. I keep the house comfortable for everyone else. I drink ice water, wear light clothing , and have fans for me.
It's only for a couple more weeks :)

  • I feel the same -- we live in an old house and normally in winter I am freezing with the drafts. However this year I'm always hot, regardless of how much snow is outside. My family is freezing their butts off! But we do have the thermostat bumped up as high as possible because I would rather be hot then make them all be cold :(
  • Oh you girls are putting me to shame!! Will follow your lead and get myself a fan. Apparently this lovely symptom sticks around post pregnancy for a while:s Guess I'd better do something so I don't end up married to an ice sculpture;) thank you xx
  • It's cold here in Delaware and I have to sleep w our bedroom windows open. Thank god my sweet man is more than understanding and doesn't seem to be bothered by our cold house :/.
  • Only complaint my DH has is that i dont cuddle anymore cuz im too damn hot. Wisconsin winters can be brutal so we settled at a comfortable temp. Water is my best friend :)
  • Solution- tell him to put on a hat. IMO we have enough going on to also have to be hot, they can be cold!
  • Hubby just enjoys me walking around half naked most of the time.
  • So, I'm not as nice as everyone... I'm actually taking this time to get hubby back for all the times that he has made me cold in the house. Haha! I keep the heat on 65 to 66. He's freezing, but he's done it to me before, so I don't feel that bad. Plus he usually complains about hating to be hot.

  • See I'm the opposite! I'm almost always cold and will bundle up on the couch with a blanket. I forgot to mention that it's in the low 80's here. And DH had to kick on the A/C over the weekend because it was so warm for them. I get random hot flashes but even now, I'm in jeans, long sleeve sweater shirt and it's 72 in our house.

I'm jealous! I had hoped to be pregnant in the winter because I am so cold natured and I have always heard pregnant ladies get hot! My hormones have yet to make me feel hot. I'm still cold all the time 8->

    Edited to fix grammar mistake.
  • I am so freaking hot all the time. It's been in the high 70s here, but for some reason the heat is still on at work. My mil, who lives with us, also keeps turning on the heat at night in the house. I know it's hormones, I remember cranking up the ac so much in the hospital room with my first that the nurse actually scolded me, lol.
  • I feel the same way, only I live in an apartment where I can't adjust the heat. It has been running 77-78 degrees and is making me so swollen. DH is comfortable, so I've just been keeping a window open and sitting near it.

  • Thank you for your comments! Seems like we're quite divided lol. I'll still get the fan and drink lots of cold drinks to try and keep his complaints to a minimum but good to know some of you agree we've got more than enough going on!! Can't wait to get back to 'normal'..whatever that will now be!! X
  • I should have mentioned I keep the house comfortable for the kids' sake ! Lol
If it was just me and SO, I may have not been quite so accommodating ! :)
  • Yes, we have this problem lol. But I always run hot and he always runs cold, so this issue is not new to us just because I'm pregnant.

DH likes to keep the bedroom door shut when we go to bed, which just makes it even hotter. You're actually supposed to sleep with the temp slightly cool. He also likes to sleep naked. When it's too cold, he comes to bed like we're in some -20 deg log cabin in the snow lol, fully dressed in ski socks, sweatpants and a shirt...ridiculous. It's really not that cold in our house :( 68 degrees is pretty fair, I think.

If you're cold, put some damn clothes on. If you're hot, it's much harder to cool off!

  • Oh my goodness yes!! Hot all the time, sleep with the window open and its -20c. Even sweating randomly throughout the day, week 34-35 were tough so far week 36 has been ok
  • So take off all your clothessssssss.... Sorry had to ha;)

Anyway, I know how you feel. SO's house temperature is fine, before I was pregnant it wasn't (he would be hot and I would be cold most the time) now we are even at this moment in time lol. Parents house, I am hot all the time I have to use a fan all night and sleep in my bra and undies. It's really comfortable sleeping in just that so I don't mind too too much. You're not being mean but then again we all don't have much longer! If your so hot though to where you feel puffy/swelling/redish (that's how I get when I get really hot since being pregnant) then I would make it colder cause you shouldn't feel to that point.
  • If you don't have kids and your husband is the only one suffering, I'd tell him to suck it up. I haven't had an issue this pregnancy, but in previous pregnancies I've been so hot (in the winter) and DH just layered.
