Hi ladies! I'm new to The Bump. I'm currently WTTC until after I get married next year. I was wondering who else is waiting? What do you guys do to make it easier to wait? Thanks:)
I just transitioned into TTC (YAY!!!!), but I feel like I was waiting forever. It helped me to be actively working toward making TTC a reality. It could be reading up on your body (Taking Charge of Your Fertility is highly recommended), starting to temp and chart your ovulation, saving up for when baby comes, talking about parenting styles with your fiance, getting yourself into shape for pregnancy, etc. I just felt like if I was doing something, then there was an obvious reason to be waiting. I didn't want to be doing nothing about my desire to have a family.
There is so much information on this website, check out the different boards, learn what other first time moms wonder/worry about, read and lurk, chime in when you feel it's appropriate.
Hi @FutureMrsMartinez12 ! Welcome! I am also waiting until after my wedding in May. When is your wedding?? I've been changing up my diet a little bit, cutting back on alcohol and caffeine, and trying to get back into my running routine.
I also started reading, charting, and generally educating myself about TTC. I just finished Bringing up Bebe, which was cute and hilarious, and am now reading What to Expect Before You're Expecting (although most folks here recommend Taking Charge of Your Fertility).
After the wedding we'll also be starting an aggressive baby saving plan, as well.
I am in the waiting period. We are ready emotionally but not where we really want to be financially. Looks like Sept. 2015 is our go time.
I work part time and I am in school full time. Keeps me busy but it doesn't really make it an easier. I guess just knowing that by waiting we are making things easier on ourselves is what helps the wait. Having a baby is huge and we would rather not add a huge financial stress on top of it so we are being agressive with our plan to try and alleviate some of that.

I'm waiting too... it sucks! We are planning to TTC next October, but I've had baby fever BAD since May. That is 16 months of waiting impatiently.
At first, my distraction was training for a half marathon, but now I've already done two of those so it just isn't that exciting anymore. I plan to do a few more and work on improving my time. Maybe that will help somewhat, and I'll stay in shape for baby.
Other distractions include saving money for the baby fund and planning our baby moon. Notice a trend here? All of my "distractions" are secretly baby related.
One thing that really does help me is looking through a calendar and picking out something (not baby related) that I look forward to doing each month. I guess it helps to turn my attention from TTC in nearly a year to things that will happen much sooner like Christmas, our anniversary, etc.

Best of luck to all of you in your waiting!
That's a great idea. I did it last month with our vaycay and this month is the Holidays... Then add something in January... Valentine's Day in February... And badaboom!

We are waiting until after our honeymoon in Jamaica in late March this year. We put off the honeymoon for my Spring Break, so I am looking forward to spending some alone time with my DH (which includes all inclusive alcohol) before TTC.
I mostly keep busy with work (I am a teacher), but I have also started a few new hobbies. I really love going on Mixbook and creating photobooks for my family. They are zero mess (as opposed to traditional scrapbooking) and they make great gifts for in-laws, parents, siblings, and friends! I also have a small side business of blinging out cowboy boots with crystals. Sounds like such a weird hobby and sideline, but I find it relaxing to apply the crystals while watching mindless reality TV.
I have also been trying to get healthier with cutting out diet soda (I love cherry coke zero), drinking more water, riding horses more often, swimming at the gym, and taking a prenatal vitamin.
I'm WTTC until next May-July. It's really hard to wait, especially when all of my friends are having babies. However, my two daughters keep me really busy as it is, so that helps. When the baby fever gets really bad I take out a Calendar and start looking ahead and planning. It's fun and gets me excited. Sometimes it is just nice to indulge yourself a bit.
I'm new here as well - we're waiting till January (so rapidly approaching!) - we just got married in May, and I had always planned on waiting at least a year after marriage to start, but DH is turning 40 soon and has a son from a prior marriage, so a kid is already in the mix - we aren't jetting off on weekend adventures, etc., like many newlyweds. I'm getting both excited and super nervous! I've already read some books (I really like The Impatient Woman's Guide to Getting Pregnant - I'm a lawyer and very impatient!) and started taking prenatals a few months ago. Also had a pre-pregnancy checkup at the OBGYN, esp. to test rubella immunity. DH is really excited too - I think he's been ready to TTC for a few months, but I'm the practical one, calculating out when I will have enough accumulated leave for a full maternity leave without going unpaid.
I haven't really been able to do much with charting - I'm on BCP continuously (no placebo week) bc of endometriosis and have been that way my entire adult life, so I truly have no clue what my cycle is like. So while I'm going off BC in January, I'm mentally prepared for it to take several months even if I don't deal with endo-related IF.

We're waiting til this summer maybe. It really depends on when we buy a home we have two thing that we want to do financially. 1. buy a house and 2. finish paying off my car
We are waiting until next fall, probably. I am a teacher, and I expect to be shifting jobs a little bit next school year, and ideally, I'll work a full year before going on maternity leave. On the other hand, we are a sperm-less (same-sex) couple, and I bet it would be easier to work on project baby next summer when I'm not working.... Do you like my blatant rationalizations for why we should start sooner? :-) My honey and I agreed that we'd really talk about kid planning after we come back from our DisneyWorld trip in January.
Right now, I'm keeping myself from going bonkers by doing a lot of research on conception, pregnancy and child-rearing. I'm also working hard, finding other things to look forward to, and trying to enjoy long nights of uninterrupted sleep.
Incidentally, I'm finding the baby-craziness comes and goes. Which is not to say that I don't always want a baby. I do. Its the craziness that comes and goes. Right now I feel all calm and serene. But when I think about waiting almost a full year, I start to feel a little edgy. So I try not to focus on that!

DH and I are waiting for this coming September in hopes to give birth over summer break since I am a teacher. We ditched BCP in november but my periods are all over the place and Im not even sure if I am ovulating yet. Waiting and very excited! We will go on a 'babymoon' this April and cant wait to enjoy a week at an all inclusive resort! I am 29 and DH is 34. I never worried about when to TTC but am thankful we are able to get started and that we both want it at the same time.
We are waiting to TTC. But it will be just under 2 years away for us. We are ready emotionally to make the necessary sacrifices, but still have to get to a point financially where we are ready. Our incomes are great, but we want to eliminate our student loan and car debts first. So we have set some specific goals and are working hard toward them.
DH & I have been married for 1.5 years and we have just stopped taking BCP last month. We really focused on getting our finances stabilized. At this point, we are comfortable with our financial situation and so we have officially moved into TTC stage.
That's just what works for us. We both just "knew" when we got to that point.
Im new here too! Waiting to get off the pill in August after i turn 30. I'm just exicted to finally be on this site been married 6 years this April. Husband was laid off twice in the 6 years we have been married and we are finally in a better place. Cant wait to experience the next chapter
I am also wttc and it's sooo hard! I've been having terrible baby fever on and off for about one full year. Now we have finally come to a decision that we will start ttc once 2016 hits so I'm extremely excited. I'm just trying to prepare my body by being healthier and really working out. Now that we have finally chosen when we're going to start trying, it feels like I have so much prep to do...
