If anyone can offer any advice with their experience. Waiting for dr. to call back to see if they can admit me tonight to the hospital for d&c (yesterday at 9 week scan- 2scans- no heartbeat was found). My main concern is the bleeding. I had a miscarriage 3 years ago and was in the hospital all day with severe bleeding (natural miscarriage).
I know I need to search the board for other posts on d&cs, but if anyone can offer any thoughts here, I would appreciate. Thanks and take care.
Sorry for your loss. I had no heartbeat on sun at 8 weeks and just had a d and c last night 14 hours ago as I couldn't get scheduled in any sooner. So far bleeding is like a light period and managing pain with meds. All the best
that is great to hear!!! Thank you for the response. I'm sorry you have had this experience as well. Keep resting and taking extra good care of yourself.
After my D&C I had very light bleeding/spotting for about a week or so, and some cramping on and off. Overall it wasn't bad physically, just emotionally. Sorry you are going through this.
I'm two weeks post D&C I was 11 weeks approx.. I had zero bleeding for 4 days after on day 5 I had some cramping and bleeding.. Lasted about 3-4 days off and on.. Never got too heavy. I did have some pretty severe headaches from the hormone drop and am still suffering with acne and dry skin from just hormones all over the place but hopefully that will let up soon. I stopped bleeding after a few days and haven't had any more since. Yesterday was my two week follow up appt and the dr said expect a period within 4-6 weeks. Hugs to you.. So sorry for your loss
I had a D&C 3 weeks ago. I may have had a recovery that wasn't typical, but I had spotting the day of the procedure, and have not had any cramping or bleeding since. From what I understand, miscarrying at home would involve a lot more bleeding than a D&C.
In my experience, the waiting beforehand as well as the cervix dilation the 24hrs prior was much worse than after the procedure. The bleeding was less than a normal period. I've found my two periods now to be longer than normal and heavier, but that's just me.
Thank you all so much. This helps me. I was just scheduled to go to hospital in 3 hours. I just need this nightmare over, as you well know. Thank you again. I'm a nervous wreck!
I had a D&C in November. I was terrified beforehand, but it wasn't bad. I was under general anaesthia so the last thing I remember was being wheeled into the operating room, then I woke up in recovery.
I had some cramping and I bled two weeks like a heavy period afterward, but didn't have any complications. I was prescribed Percocet and 800 mg ibuprofen for the pain and hardly needed them except to help me sleep at night.
