I am quite tall and I was just wondering, how does your height affect your pregnancy? Will taller women show later? I know that everyone is different but I want to know in general. Thanks, A.
Taller women (taller torsos) generally show later because there is more room for the baby to hide. It also depends on core strength. The stronger the core the less you will show.
Apparently there are some old trolls on here too.. And this was meant not to be discriminating nor offensive. It's not my fault that I inherited my fathers genes.. And fyi I asked for tall moms opinions on how their bodies changed so if you knew you were short then why did u chose to read it and reply? :-?
I'm 5'10" and not really sure what to expect, but as long as baby is healthy i don't care how big i get. I've heard that taller women have a higher chance of carrying twins, but who knows!
I'm 6'1" and didn't really show until I was closer to 6-7 months. On the plus side, we don't tend to get the whole cramped, feet in the ribs issues that smaller women do. :-)
Agreed! I saw a poll I believe in Men's Health last year that said 83% of men are most attracted to small-to-medium framed women between 5'3 to 5'7 to carry their babies. I'm 5'1! You have to try and let it roll off your back......
I am 5'8&1/2 and barely showed till the last 2 months with my son. But I had crazy stomach muscles so I think that had more to do with it than my height because I am very short waist-ed.
I am 5'9.5" to 5'11" (scoliosis depends on whether I have been to chiropractor... Lol) and didn't show till 6 months with my first. This time my belly started poking at 5 weeks... My body remembered what to do lol... And no it isn't all bloating. And I have lost like 10 lbs. Now 9 weeks tomorrow.
I'm 5'9" and didn't show until 7mos with my first, and 6mos with my 2nd. Even then, people didn't think I was as far along as I was, and I gave birth to some big babies (9lbs 1oz, 8lbs 14oz). I gained nearly 40 lbs with my first and maybe 30 lbs with my 2nd and people were didn't believe it.
Im 5"9 & 1/2 with my first pregnancy i started to show when i was 4 months pregnant. I should start showing sooner this time with it been my second. Im 7 weeks and i just look super bloated......starting to wounder if it could be twins :-?
I am just shy of 6' and I cannot hide pregnancy at all! I am 7 weeks and I most definitley have a belly (baby, bloat or otherwise, it is still a pregnancy induced belly ----- this comment is for all of the negative nancies! :~>). While we are in the topic of being tall, where are all of you tall mamas finding maternity pants/jeans that are actually long enough for you??
I found two pair at motherhood that are perfect! I didn't show for a long time with my first. Then second 10 weeks I had a bump but 20 weeks I was very noticeable. Now this time 9 weeks I have a bump. DH came home last week after not seeing me all week. And was shocked. He said "well it's starting to sure show now!"
I'm 5'9" and didn't have much of a bump until 23-24 weeks the first time. Sooner the second time and my belly got HUGE (9 pounder). This time I am 7 weeks and my belly looks like my 16 week belly the first time! I am thin but gained a lot of weight with both previous pregnancies, but being tall helped it not look quite so obvious. Lost all the baby weight both times and plan to again (took about 7 months first time and a year the second time). Abs will never be flat again though...at least not without a tummy tuck but I don't need any skin removed.

I am a little over 5'9, 9 weeks prego, and lost 10 lbs since we found out! This is my first and my belly is becoming more apparent. I am not sure if it's because of the weight loss or because I am actually showing. I have no idea what to expect but I am wondering the same thing about showing.
Also- Motherhood store sells longs (35 in inseams) and oldnavy sells longs, just not in jeans.
I showed much sooner with my second than my first. Nonetheless, I attributed my overall ease in carrying my children, particularly in the third trimester, to be due in part to my height.
Re: Any pregnant moms on the tall side??
<--Tall girl.

I managed to skate through the first 6-7 months of my first pregnancy without anyone who didn't know me before realizing I was pregs.
I highly doubt I'm going to get even close to that with this one, but being tall is still usually an advantage. There's just more room for baby!
