3rd Trimester

Does this number mean I passed my 3 hour glucose test?

I just finished my 3 hour glucose test a few hours ago. The lab just called and left me a message saying that my blood sugar was extremely low at 44 when I left and they wanted to make sure I was feeling  alright. Since my blood sugar was so low and seems like my body broke down the sugar does that mean that I passed the test? They left out that very important piece of information :)

  • Call your doctor. They should be able to tell you.

  • Awesome question for your doctor.
  • Call your doctor
  • Pass or fail depends on the results of all 4 draws, not just the last one. As others have said, call your doctor to get your full results.

  • Goodness...is this what the bump has become? Calling your fucking doctor.
  • At my office, you need to fail 2 of the 4 draws to have GD. (At my previous office you need to fail 2 draws or the just the first draw.)

So right now you know that you passed 1 of the draws, hopefully you pass 2 more.

  • That's really low.. like abnormally low. They want you to be under 140 after the one hour test.
  • After mine my doctor never called to tell me the results-and didn't even bring it up at my next appointment. I have access to my chart online so that's how I found out the number, and then called to ask if they could explain. I ditto calling your doctor, but understand the frustration of them sometimes leaving out the most important info!

  • My last was super low but I still failed. My fasting number was over 90 and my one hour was almost 200. The 2 hr reading was 120 I think which passed and my last was 62 which was too low. All it took was the first 2 draws to label me with gestational diabetes. I did really well controlling with diet only the first month but I now take a very small dose of insulin at night. Definitely find out the rest of your results from your dr.

It's actually concerning that it was that low. Sometimes with GD, hypoglycemia is a symptom.

Mine was 47 at the last draw of my 3-hr test with DD1, I passed but that was the result of all 4 draws not just the last.
    DS1: 8/3/10, DD1: 8/17/13, DD2: 8/13/15

  • I failed my 3 hour test and one of the draws they considered failed was my last one at 59. Its too low so they will probably fail you for that hour. But you have to fail 2 draws to be diagnosed. Numbers being too low is bad too...not just too high.
