Diclegis

Is anyone taking Diclegis for nausea? I have been nauseated and throwing up 24/7. My regular OB prescribed Zofran. I had my last appt with my fertility specialist today. I asked him if there were other options. He prescribed Diclegis. He says its approved by the FDA and zofran is not. I've not done any research yet. Just want to take to what's best for baby and me.

Re: Diclegis

  • My OB is pretty holistic and natural. She prescribed diclegis as well. She said it was specifically tailored to nausea, with the only side effect being drowsiness (as if I have any energy to drain).

I haven't taken it yet, mainly bc all of the sudden, I've been feeling a bit better this week.

    9 weeks for me!! :)

  • Started it Wednesday night and am finally feeling like a half normal person again!
  • It is great stuff.... but just a heads up- it is a very expensive version of the Unisom/B6 combo that folks have been using for years :)  I am taking it now (my OB gave me a ton of samples), but when I run out I will just use unisom/B6- my insurance won't even cover this without preapproval, and out of pocket is $320!

My ob gave me tons of samples of it, and it is helping so much. I can eat again without throwing up so I'm thankful :)
  • Thank you!!! Doctor warned me it was expensive and gave me a coupon. I am desperate and will do whatever takes! Glad to know it seems pretty safe. So are yall doing two at night before bed?
  • TWO!  I tried to make my samples last and just took one last night and I am paying for it now!

  • It's great... makes you very sleepy which helps since I've been a restless sleeper since becoming pregnant.
  • My doctor just told me to do 25mg of Vitamin B6 and a half a unisom at bedtime. Same thing but TONS cheaper!!
  • I've been taking two at bedtime and think I will add in an afternoon one because I started to get barfy around dinner after feeling pretty good all day today.
  • I've been taking it off and on for over a week. It really seems to help. It does make me sleepy, and my dr said to take it just before bed. With insurance it cost me $30 for 30 pills. I will have to ask about taking a vitamin B6 instead.
  • NEVERMIND. It came back with a vengeance this morning :( I'm so discouraged; these past 2 days I finally was able to get work done and eat.
  • It is the only thing that has helped my nausea. I ran out once and felt awful so I've taken it daily since. I don't feel 100% all the time but it definitely is better than trying to manage it with just ginger chews. :)
  • My dr has prescribed it for me. Helps me not feel like complete poo in the am, however since I work I have to take Zofran in the day. Which is not helping. Throwing up constantly.
Any of the morning sickness girls over with your spells? If so how far along are you? I'm only 8 weeks and I'm dying!

  • I started Diclegis one week ago. Only had one instance of nausea since. It works like a charm. Thank goodness for insurance bc the pharmacy told me it was 366 for a 30 - day supply.
  • I took it for about two weeks and I felt okay in the morning, but even with extra doses at 8 am and 12 I had horrible nausea. I was really trying to avoid Zofran but it seems like it might be my only option.
  • It's a general help, not any better than Zofran. Only lasts like 1/2 the day. I still feel terrible, just keeping food down.
  • My OB prescribed it for me also. It works well but still have some break-through nausea where I have to take zofran at times.
  • My OB just gave me samples of it yesterday... so far it hasn't made a huge difference --- but I have pretty severe morning sickness at this point, so I may not have absorbed it yet!
