medicaid secondary...uugghhhh

So i have BCBS as my primary insurance however because my crappy deductible is soooo high, i applied for pregnancy medicaid as a secondary. I was approved however there is one problem NO ONE WANTS TO TAKE THE MEDICAID!!!!

Has anyone else had this issue...it is very frustrating!

Re: medicaid secondary...uugghhhh

  • I had that issue back when I had medicaid and was trying to find a primary care physician.  It's not uncommon for providers to refuse it especially if the your state does a bad job reimbursing them for care provided to medicaid patients.

  • What about a hospital based OB?
  • Can you look into a plan change? Most insurance companies will let you change your plan if you become pregnant since its a life changing event. I have BCBS federal, and it's great, not sure how the other BCBS are though. Good luck. Medicaid is tough to deal with. I'm a nurse and I know many doctors won't take it because they will never get reimbursed what they should. Can someone at the Medicaid office direct you to a provider?
  • I know EXACTLY what you are going through. Finding a doctor that will take Medicaid secondary is almost impossible. I finally found one, and I was so excited I did I didn't even bother to look at his ratings or anything. When I got to his office it was dirty and the staff was no where to be found. Finally I got a nurses attn and she rolled her eyes at me! Then basically threw the clip board at me for me to fill out. My fiancé took the clip board out of my hand and grabbed mine and pulled me out of there lol. We ended up looking up his rating in the car. He had 1/5 stars! And terrible reviews!!! I was almost devastated lol.

We ended up dropping my first insurance and just going with medicaid primary and I found my wonderful doctor :)

Hope this helps! And don't forget to check doctor ratings!!!
