Perks only preggos understand

So we've been sharing the problems with getting bigger by the day...but every once in awhile, I find something that's a funny surprise.  Anyone else finding some perks?  I'll start:

1.  It's way easier to clean my belly button since it's no longer an innie.  Now it's just flush with my belly (a little worried it'll pop out soon, though).

2.  When I jog, I wear an elastic belt that holds my phone, key, iPod, etc.  It used to ride up onto by abdomen every block or so and have to be pulled back down to my hips, but now my belly keeps it down and in place.  The belt doesn't stand a chance coming up!  (although I have let it out to a larger size than before...)

  • I've been on a organizing, throwing out, cleaning streak lately. Thank you nesting!
Everyone asks all the time now how are you feeling? How are you doing? It's nice to know people care and are interested, but it can also get old to say oh good, or fine thank you.
I mean do you really wanna know my tailbone is killing me slowly? Or that all the sudden I niw get a low constant pressure and burn of heart burn each afternoon on into the night ;)
  • No family drama.. Seriously my parents fight worse now than when they were married... I don't ever get drug into it anymore. :)

Dh helps me with cleaning because he doesn't let me lift the laundry basket or vacuum lol.

I can want ice cream when its freezing cold outside and no one looks at me like I'm crazy.

    1) The house is always spotless thanks to my nesting hormones
    2) I have an all new wardrobe since my old clothes don't fit (and I absolutely love my adorable maternity outfits)
    3) No one says anything when I take an extra helping of something delicious
    4) People (especially strangers) are always so friendly, and smile at me all the time.

The last is so nice that I often unzip my coat when entering stores, so that people will see my belly, just to get any extra pregnancy perks that I can (I know I am so bad)

  • Not having to lift anything heavy at work. And naps are ok everyday.

Totally forgot about the naps! My husband used to get mad when I'd take naps before I got pregnant...now its just expected and hes totally okay with it.

  • My husband is deployed.......so very few perks in the around the house department or anything.

  • It's true, strangers are so nice to me and smile when they catch a glimpse of the belly. @MrsPDX‌ I unzip my jacket too. ;)

Besides not having to the clean the litterbox, I really enjoyed the expectant mother parking at Babies R Us.

  • kaynix21  my husband is gone with the military too so I hear you! I wish I could pull some husband perks!

  • I wish there were more expectant mother parking places ... I've never seen one before. But we don't have a babiesrus here.
  • Getting away with being extra lazy and taking extra naps. Getting away with the house not being spotless. And getting away with eating what ever I want and blaming the baby. Lol. I

Ha ha, I feel like because it's winter and I'm bundled in my coat people don't notice and I don't get any perks. Just the other night I was at a bar, drinking n/A cider waiting for a seat to open up and some guy barged right in and took it. Jerk.
  • @chambersbaby2015‌ My little girl does the same thing! She bounces around all the time but hates anyone touching my belly! She kicks at the doppler and when I get sonograms. My poor DH is feeling left out because he is only felt her once. She always stops when he puts his hand on my belly. Lol

I still pretty much do everything at my house but my DH has certainly stepped up helping in that area! Between having 3 children fairly young still and being older I just can't get around with this one like I did the others! Haha!

This happens to me too, lol. She used to be kicking up a storm and then I'd touch my stomach and she would stop. It offended me, lol! She is big enough now to feel her kick from the outside and I just love the feeling. I've tried to get DH to catch the kicks, but she must be mad at him for something because every time he puts his hand on my belly she will stop moving or go kick somewhere else, lol.
I feel bad for DH because hes not felt her yet, but he always takes his hand away too quickly. I think he might get weirded out by it or something and thats why he doesn't try to feel her for long. To be honest though I sort of love that she lets me feel her from the outside, but nobody else can catch her in the act, lol. :)

Lol, I love your responses...especially about people bringing you food.
DH always assumes that I'm hungry and instead of asking if I want to get something, he just asks me what I want to eat. :P

  • My favorite perks so far are being allowed to buy adorable baby clothes, feeling the baby move around, and lastly, possibly my most favorite is my husband's attitude recently. He is extra loving and helpful since I got pregnant and on my worst days when I feel huge and like crap he assures me that he thinks I'm beautiful and that he loves the baby bump!!
  • 1. Not doing the cat litter is awesome!

    2. My dh takes control of the kids when we're out and I'm free to do whatever. I can't explain quite how much I love this, especially when my 16mth old is throwing a tantrum while grocery shopping and my dh will just take him out of the shop and leave me in peace. After 2 kids, grocery shopping alone is a luxury
  • I think my favorite perk is not feeling guilty for putting my needs first. If I'm tired I sleep, or go to bed early that kinda thing.
I am a nurse and I showed up for the wrong shift the other day instead of being sent home I picked up four hours of overtime because they were short! I don't know but that made me happy. I blamed it on placenta brain, lol.
Plus I love that I get to take her with me everywhere, I love feeling her respond to different things. Its pretty special.
  • Oh let's see. The fact that my best friends use me as an excuse to go out and get food. I'm always offered free food bc "everyone knows I'm hungry". I get to pick what kind of food we get. I got have that annoying fat roll under my boobs anymore. Baby will kick up a storm, until anyone else puts their hands there (hahaha mine, all mine)... extra back rubs. I don't have to do any chores currently (I'm high risk and fiancé don't play around, so I'm excused).... and that everyone likes to tell tell me that they have my symptoms for me since I feel fine. Hahaha I love it!
  • Shopping at Costco has become even more enjoyable now. It's is so hot in there I have to take my coat off. When the super nice sample ladies see my tummy they give me a full size sample or a larger piece. My husband enjoys this perk too.
  • I just thought of this one this morning while I was getting dressed for work. I've always been petite person which is fine but there have always been clothes that don't quite fit me just right. Like dresses that are too big in the boob area, or that hang weird. Now that I have this belly and my boobs have filled out I am wearing some of the dresses that used to make me feel self conscious because I didn't feel them out right. Especially business casual/office attire. I have more confidence because I know I am growing this precious little love bug inside of me. To be honest, although there are often times when I can't get quite comfortable sitting or sleeping, I feel pretty damn good!
  • WiebeToBe  that's awesome, I need to try that! I love Costco samples! :)

  • 1. My hubby gets up and makes me breakfast every morning, because the baby needs to eat!
    2. Letting other people pick things up off the floor at my restaurant.  I just started this week, and can totally look at one of my staff and say, will you pick up that receipt/shrimp tail/pen?  No more bending over for me!!
    3. This may be specific to my job, but people can be really mean to restaurant managers!  Generally disagree with our seating policy, or are trying to get a free meal.  It's very hard for people to argue with a visibly pregnant lady in public
  • I don't have many perks. DH works away. and because of that, my family is constantly bugging me about going with me to DD doctors appointments because they don't want me driving while pregnant...WTF. I'm not helpless. One perk is no one gets mad at me for taking the last crab Rangoon (or all) at the Chinese place because I am pregnant.
  • No period!!!! ;)
