The dreaded stretch marks

I almost started getting emotional while getting into the shower this morning. I noticed I have a huge deep purple stretch mark extending from my butt to the back of my knee on both my right and left thigh. I am fine with belly stretch marks, side belly stretch marks, even upper thigh stretch marks. But, really?? I even noticed a few tiny ones on my calf all the way down to my ankle.
I am over the moon excited for our little boy and we cannot wait to meet him, but this is rough.

I am hoping that the marks will fade enough that I will feel comfortable wearing shorts and skirts in the future. I guess if not, then oh well. But a girl can dream haha

Any other ladies struggling with stretch marks in surprising areas or just having stretch marks worse than anticipated?

Thanks for letting me vent :) My DH, bless his loving heart, just keeps telling me I am still beautiful. I am a lucky gal ;)

  • The first mark I got looks like a cheetah clawed my butt. It almost looks like a tattoo. It's completely bizarre!

  • I know your pain! My boobs are COMPLETELY covered in horrorshow dark purple marks--and they haven't even gotten that much bigger. I don't know how I'm going to pull off anything sexy in the future, which really pains me because I already feel like I'll never be sexy again. We just have to trust that they'll fade like everyone says they do.

Aww man :( if it helps I got a ton of those just during puberty and they completely faded. They're a little more pronounced now being pregnant but yes they'll definitely fade!
  • I thought I was going to be one of those lucky girls that didn't get any but they showed up with a vengence overnight around week 32. I have the deep purple cheetah claw looking ones on my entire lower belly and they are so ITCHY! I was expecting a few, but not that many. My hubby's been great too and just keeps telling me it's all worth it, but I feel super unattractive. Like PP said, I just hope they fade in time. It's not like I was walking around in belly shirts before anyway, so I'll just invest in a tankini and call it a day. I'm sure I'll forget all about them once I've got my little nugget in my arms!

I have none on my belly, but I've got them on my butt and back of my thighs! Also my boobs, but they aren't too bad. I have noticed though that putting coco butter or any kind of lotion on really helps, it doesn't make them go away but I deffinetly notice that they seem lighter the day after I put it on
  • Mine have just started to really get worse over the last few weeks. I had some from puberty and the like, but the new ones are small deep purple stripes all over my belly. I guess I also have some on my lower back/hips. My MIL pointed them out one day when my shirt rode up, but I had some there before getting pregnant, as well.

My husband has been wonderful about them. I was mentioning the other day that I kind of felt like a zebra and all he told me was that they were fine and were my badges of honor from growing our son.

  • Yeah, WTF, I had zero until 36 weeks and then...surprise, surprise. And they itch like crazy!! But like previous posters mentioned, they do fade with time....

  • The boobs. The boobs are ruined on my end. The deep purple ones. Oh well. It sucks, but I keep thinking that being a mom is better than having a nice body... I mean isn't it strange how we never seem to appreciate what we have when we have it? Lol wish I could go back and enjoy my body a little more at age 20! Those were the days!

    I'm right there with you!

I thought I was going to be lucky with all the religious lotioning I've been doing everyday since I first got pregnant. Nope.

From about 32 weeks and on, I noticed I was getting these purpely lines on both my hips. Fine, but then I started getting them on the tops of both my thighs, probably from my belly bump putting so much pressure on them! What was the worst for me was actually feeling the skin under my belly button ripping and tearing apart when my bump dropped. :/ I went out and bought some Tummy Rub Butter the next day and have been using it since.

Hubby has been very supportive...he's had a bunch of his own from puberty so I know he knows how these feel. He still tells me that I am beautiful which is very kind of him. I guess they will become my badge of honor for having my LO, but I sure hope I can still look decent for any upcoming summer beach trips.
  • My first pregnancy I got one on my stomach and a few on my boobs- but I used mederma religiously after he was born and they became almost non existsant! Try it!
  • I thought I avoided stretch marks but they arrived around 38 weeks and at 39 I got a mild case of PUPPP. Horrible! Like PP said, Mederma works for afterwards.

  • Maybe its a varicose vein?? Those can be collapsed in a pretty simple out patient procedure... I have been using vitamin E oil and it seems to help!!

I had PUPPP with my first pregnancy and it was horrible! It went away right after the baby was born but omg the itching!
  • I just discovered them on the back of my thighs right under my butt. I didn't see them but I scratched there and could feel them. I really don't want to look.
