Take a breath and give it time. Some women dilate slowly over weeks and some dilate over hours. Not being dilated two weeks ahead of time is nothing to worry about.
I'm two weeks away and I have no clue if I'm dilated or not. This is NOT something to stress over. It will happen when it happens. If I'm anything like my mom, it won't happen until I'm in labor. Just relax and enjoy what's left of your pregnancy.
Don't worry about this one bit. :-) I am dialated already but its a big surprise to me. My mom didn't dialate until she was in active labor at the hospital with me so I assumed I would be the same way. Everyone is different and dilation really isn't a big deal or a big indicator from what I can tell. I've been at a (almost) 2 for over a week. :-)
I am dilating to a 1 as of right now. I'm not stressing about it.. Just wondering if there were any ways to speed it up.. Lol.. Ready to meet my little guy..
Just had my 4th baby and I was dilated 1cm at 36 weeks, got checked again at 38 and was told I was only a fingertip. Had my membranes swept at 39 weeks and was still only 1 cm (2 after sweep). Had my son that night. Alternately w my 3rd i was only dilated maybe a fingertip at 40 weeks and didn't deliver till I was 40+4. It really doesn't mean much of anything.
I was at 3 cm for 3 weeks and just had her about a week early today - I had gone to 5.5 cm since Monday without knowing (actually had less contractions than normal) and went from 5.5 to 10 cm in 4 hours. Sometimes they just get stuck...
As everyone has already told you, it means nothing. I have never dilated before going into labour. I know people who have dilated a bit before labour and still had a long labour or ended up stalling. You just never know.
Edit I found this thread from the mobile site and did not see the board it was on. (it was listed under what bumpies are talking about) Sorry to crash your board.
I went in for my appointment on Friday morning and was 1cm & not effaced. Had steady contractions Friday night so went in to L&D and I was 3.5cm & 70% effaced. It all changes SO fast. I happened to stop making progress at the hospital, so eventually got sent home. But it just goes to show the numbers really don't mean much at all.
