Thinking of you...haven't seen recent updates and hoping you're ok.

Hi there! I'm still around, and I've posted on a couple of threads. I just been a little more distracted than usual, since all of the major boards at my non-profit are meeting this week. (We call it the Meeting Series, and they happen 3 times a year, and they are always some sort of madness of trying to stuff as much work as possible into 4 days to a week). So, I've been busy sending last minute emails, and logging into conference calls.

I'm doing well. Last week, my MFM noticed several decels, or drops below normal, in Baby A's heart rate during monitoring. Baby A is the boy and he has very low fluid, and limited space for him and his umbilical cord. Because of the decels, my MFM has increased my monitoring of heartbeats and contractions from 2x per day (1 hour monitoring every 12 hours) to 3x per day (1 hour monitoring every 8 hours). The first few days, both babies traced very well, although, there have been a few more instances in decels for Baby A. My MFM noted there is no set number of decels that constitutes an emergency, but the point of the more frequent monitoring is to get a better picture of how frequently its happening. I believe one of the concerns is that Baby A may be compressing his cord, which could be causing the decels.

That's the biggest news for me. I had some pink spotting again that started on Saturday, but seems to have stopped on Tuesday. It's less scary now that I've been through it before. Some of my monitoring sessions have picked up contractions, but nothing that I have felt. I'm hoping they're just some normal Braxton Hicks that I can ignore. Oh, I also took my 1 hour glucose screen and passed, so hooray for that.

I reached 28 weeks on Wednesday. <:-P <:-P <:-P <:-P

If I can make it 2 more weeks, more steroids for LOs' lungs. I'm talking to them about this, as if it's a really big treat they can only get if they behave and stay in my uterus. I hope my talks are working.

That's (mostly) great news! The fact you're still pregnant is freakin phenomenal!!!! I had a patient in residency that spent 6 weeks ruptured before she delivered. You just beat her

the decels at this gestational age are also expected, but I understand the desire for increased monitoring, just in case. Their little systems aren't mature, so decels happen and don't necessarily indicate distress. I'm glad work is keeping you busy and hopefully serving as a bit of a distraction for you. I'm truly so happy that you and the LOs are hanging in there! Yay for repeat steroids, yay for passing your glucose, and yay for continued pregnancy!

Did the post title make anyone else think of the scooby doo theme song?

@AMShark‌ how was your u/s today? And those babies might not know it, but those steroid shots (and making it to 30 weeks) are a real treat!

@jessimi06 - The u/s was good. The fluid was the same, baby B has a good amount, baby A still has no measurable pockets of fluid, but the blood flood to/from the placenta is good, and the heart rates are good.

Baby B, decided she doesn't like being head down after all, and is now feet down. She's basically been doing really slow cartwheels for the past 2 weeks. I just hope she lands back on head down when the time comes. I'd really love to avoid a c-section if possible. I feel like I've spent more than enough time in bed already.

I hope she does too! Is baby A head down then? Both of mine have been transverse the whole time.

And will your hospital do a breech extraction for baby b if she's breech but baby a is head down?

@jessimi06 - Yes, Baby A has been head down since the rupture. I don't think he had the room to do a full flip, so I think he's pretty much stuck that way. If he has to be stuck, I have to say, I'm glad its head down. Sorry yours are both transverse. Is there any hope that they might move?

@BabyKsMommy - If either baby is breech, my MFM has already told me it will be a c/s for both. Baby A has been doing well, but he is still in a compromised position with his broken membrane. There are no plans to do anything that my delay his birth, or cause him any extra stress, other than the stress he's been under since the rupture.

I do know a woman with twins who had one vaginally, and the other by c/s, but that's only b/c while she was delivering the first vaginally, the other changed position.

It's been so long since I've had a chance to check in but SO SO SO glad to see you n the babies holding strong! I'm hoping these babies make it another 6 - 8 weeks!
