  • Really......
  • Everything I've read says period like cramps can be a sign of labor. Your stomach hardening is most likely contractions.  Your first step should be to call your doctor. At this point you should have talked to her/him in detail about the signs of labor. If you haven't yet, today would be a good time!

  • I've had period-like cramps for weeks. Could be something; could be nothing but your body prepping for labor (that could occur today or weeks from now).

    Call you doctor.

    Deja vu??

  • You lost you mucus plug a week ago, your midwife said the head was so low she couldn't get a measurement, you are having tightening in your belly for intervals..

Has your Midwife discussed the signs of labor with you at all? I guess it's too late to find another doctor.

  • Maybe. I had the same thing last Saturday. Still pregnant.

  • Lets put it this way. I've been having rather uncomfortable period like cramps for weeks now and had asked my doctor about them, but they were brushed off as just braxton hicks. When I was hospitalized recently, the monitor they had me hooked up to was showing some significant contractions, fairly close together, and not just little bumps on the chart. I was asked if I was having cramping or anything, which I was. Turns out, they can either just be braxton hicks or the real thing. As I said before, I've been feeling them for weeks and here I am at 37wks. So, just to be on the safe side, call your doctor.
