Tylenol and pregnancy

So recently I have come down with a super nasty cold (actually going in tomorrow for them to check if it's bronchitis:/) and recently I've had a lot of trouble with my ear. I have saline solution to help keep everything clear but my ear is still bothering me like crazy. I've tried some natural remedies like a few drops of olive oil, sitting up straight, and heat but nothing has given me much relief. I've used Tylenol and that's what seems to give me the most relief, but I don't want to over do it:/ so far I've taken it 3 times in the last two days. So I guess what I'm asking is has anyone taken or used Tylenol religiously for aches and pains during pregnancy? I'm 38 weeks tomorrow if that makes any type difference.

Re: Tylenol and pregnancy

  • Tylenol is perfectly safe while pregnant. Just follow the dosage instructions on the back. If you still feel bad for taking it just limit yourself. Ask your doctor if you can take Tylenol Sinus. Mine okay'd it while I was sick but yours could be different.

  • It is considered to be a relatively safe and allowed drug during pregnancy, but a link has been suggested between its use during pregnancy and ADHD. Correlation is not causation, so we can't say that tylenol causes ADHD, but I would try to minimize my intake to what I really needed. Ex. maybe you really need it to dull the pain and allow you to focus while you're in an important meeting and to let you drift off to sleep, but your favorite TV show will distract yourself from your discomfort so you don't need it then.

This is exactly what I was going to say! I've taken it a couple times this pregnancy and only took one 325mg tab to see if that would help and it did in each case. Hope you get to feeling well soon!
  • I take tylenol for my aches and pains...it was on my "ok meds list" from my doctor and the times I've had to go to L&D the nurses have said it's ok as well...I actually take the extra strength Tylenol...you and baby are fine...I hope you feel better soon! :)
