I just need advice if this sounds like alcoholism.
Say this person drinks maybe once a week or once every 2 weeks. However, this person drinks to get drunk. They can't just have one or 2 drinks. They don't thinj there's a point to drink unless they are buzzed or drunk.
Re: alcoholism
I think there is also a difference if this person is meeting up with a few friends to go dancing or hang out and get a buzz to relax and is responsible about transportation etc., vs. someone who is going out and getting completely wasted and getting in fights, driving drunk etc. As an adult I feel like it's not an issue if someone wants to get a buzz once in awhile to relax or for entertainment as long as they are responsible about it. To each their own. It's a huge spectrum, so I'm sure everyone has their own opinions on what is acceptable alcohol use, but what you describe does not sound like alcoholism to me.
It's binge drinking.
Which may or may not be alcoholism. It's definitely a compulsive behavior, which can be a short path into full-blown addiction.
