FTM question cervical check !!!

so I went in for my appointment today with really really light cramping. Nothing big. My OB checks my cervix and tells me that baby's head is right there at the opening and im 3cm dilated . I asked her about the pains and she says it's totally normal and its just showing that it's starting.. She never said what "it" was. She did say that hopefully the check will get my contractions going tonight and hopefully I'd have her by tomorrow... Since the appointment Ive had contractions like crazy with period like cramps wrapping around my lower stomach.. As time went on they stopped contracting but every once in a while I'll get some serious stabbing pains in my pelvis and then it'll go away completely. Can anyone explain this to me? I'm a ftm... Not quite sure how this works. due dates technically on Saturday.

    It is likely just very early labor. Once your contractions are timeable 5-1-1, then call your Dr. and head to L&D.

    You could have your baby today, tomorrow or in a week- it is really hard for anyone including your dr to predict. I've been 100% effaced and 5cm for 9 days now- and still no baby.

    Every labor is different, honestly if you feel you're in labor it doesn't hurt to call your ob. This will be my 3rd child and u went In 2/1 with false labor pains and was sent home. It's better to be safe. With my son I never had contractions to the point that I couldn't stand it. They were mild, went in to get checked and I was 4 cm dilated. They sent me to the hospital at 2 pm had my water broke at 330 pm and delivered with an easy birth at 531 pm. Best of luck
