To all the hairstylists

Couldn't find the other thread for this so I know it's completely safe to color your hair while pregnant my question is how well does the color stick on pregnant woman ?? I need my hair done terribly but I'm worried it won't come out how I expect it to.

Re: To all the hairstylists

  • I was always told that the 2nd tri is safe but to wait till the 3rd trimester to be even more safe.

  • I think it completely depends on your hair. I think for some people their hair does things differently while pregnant and some it is exactly the same.

I have a Daughter born 2/26/2013. She is pretty much amazing!

  • Thanks. I think I'm going to try it out and just see what happens.
  • I have gotten my hair colored through both pregnancies and have not noticed a difference in how it sticks. Take a crack at it.

  • My sister is a cosmetologist and she said there is nothing dangerous about getting your hair done, from what she learned in school, the problem is how your hair may or may not take it. But of course, always chdck with your doctor first! I've had my hair done, and I had it done with DD.
  • You can have them do a small piece d hair underneath to test first. Sometimes hormones can make your hair do some weird things. There was just a post about this where someone's hair turned a completely different color due to pregnancy hormones. I would personally have the little test done to know what it is going to look like before my whole head turned orange and most stylists are happy to do it.

  • I had mine done at 14 weeks and it turned out a more red than I would have liked. Going in a few weeks and hopefully we can get it to my natural dark brown
  • It isn't dangerous but, you can have hot spots where the dye won't take or will process quicker. Same with perms. My hair does it when I'm pregnant I had a very strange perm with DD. Half curl and half Idk what.
  • I'm 21 weeks and willing to try lol thanks ladies very helpful. Currently sitting at the hairsalon
  • I am a cosmetologist and your hair can be unpredictable while pregnant due to your hormones. Most of the time it may take brassy our ashy, but it should be fine if done by a professional, not box color. Box color has 3x more ammonia than a bottle of windex.
