Is the T25 workout safe during pregnancy?

I'm a FTM at 14w and Me and my mom just started the t25 workout series. My mom won't let me do anything except for the modified low impact variation of the exercises. My mom has never been pregnant as I was adopted as an infant. Is it safe to do all the jumping and higher impact exercises? Jumping jacks, high knees, ect?

  • You'll have to consult your doctor or midwife-- it will depend very much on your fitness level and whether you have any complications.

For me, because I was an avid exerciser pre-pregnancy and have no major issues, my midwives have said I can do anything as long as there's no risk of falling/contact/etc. I've had to scale back from running to a run/walk combo, and a lot of the more intense plyometric moves just don't feel good or safe as my belly gets larger. But I am still getting my heart rate up, lifting weights, doing yoga, etc.

  • I was allowed to do anything I did before and worked out until 36 weeks with both girls. If you were working out and in shape before, I'm sure you're doctor will agree you can do it. Just be aware of your body and staying hydrated.

If you started this from a sedentary life I'd assume the modified stuff is probably appropriate. Definitely ask your doctors opinion.

  • I did T-25 before, and was given the OK to continue during my pregnancy. My doctor said listen to my body, if it gets to strenuous to stop. I also started following Tonya and do the modified moves.
  • Consult your doctor first and foremost. Like other PP's, I exercised regularly pre-pregnancy and my doctor has had no problem with me continuing my regular routine. I even walked my first half marathon at 10 weeks pregnant. I'm not comfortable jumping around at this point, but I modify what doesn't feel good. I was doing a step class this morning. This is definitely one of those topics that will vary widely from person to person and absolutely needs to be done in conjunction with your doctor.

I second this!  I am doing t25 now with my pregnancy and I'm 17 weeks along.  If I start to get out of breath or tired I take it easy. I also was doing a very strict rotation (the one that they give you) and gave myself a break on that.  I do the ones that make me feel the best.
  • I also did T25 before my pregnancy.  My OB is is comfortable with it so I am still doing it now.  If you were not active before pregnancy your OB my have a different opinion.
  • My doctor told me to not do it, to much quick lateral movement and jumping. So I quit. You should explain it to your doc and see what she/he says.
