I am so happy because I just went three whole days without washing my hair and it still looks amazing. Before I was so oily that I couldn't go a day without washing it. What has being pregnant done for you guys when it comes to hair/skin:nails that type of thing

Re: Pregnancy affecting hair/skin

  • It's *affecting

& being pregnant has made me break out a little I drank more water to clear that up & my nails are long and strong !!! My hair is also thick and extra curly these days I love it

  • Lol thanks, I fixed it.
  • My hair became sort of flat and thin.... I got a new shorter hair cut and it made it look a lot better.... For those who like to play with old wives tales I am having a girl .... Interestingly, when I was pregnant with DS I had beautiful thick hair and a "glowing feeling"... Haha maybe girls really do "steal our beauty" ;)
  • @elruby That's what I keep saying, because I am NOT a pretty pregnant lady! My hair looks the same as it always does, but I have a pixie cut, so there's not much there to notice anyway. And my face..... my poor face looks like it belongs to a teenager!

  • My hair looks and feels great, but it's not growing as fast as it used to. Also, I broke out really bad at the beginning of my pregnancy, so the old wives tale was true for me too (I'm having a girl). Lately the skin on my hands is really dry, but I don't know if that's a side effect of the pregnancy or because I've been washing my hands 300 times a day!

My hands have been really dry and cracking.... But that is a pretty normal winter ailment for me. I use Aveeno overnight cream and a homemade scrub of sugar and olive oil which really helps (you can add some essential oil to the mixture if you like too).
  • My hair is doing great other than it gets oily faster.  My face is horrific.  I've tried changing up my typical products but it's not helping.  I'm having a boy so the old wives tale isn't accurate for me.  Maybe I will have a super handsome boy since he is stealing my beauty.  LOL.

  • My hair isn't getting as oily so quick but I did get dandruff which I hate. Also for every one of my pregnancies I get a nasty rash thing between my chin and lip and next to my nose on the left side. Doctor thinks it's eczema but I'm going to see a dermatologist cus this thing HURTS when I wash my face and specially when I put on makeup. It's aweful.

Crazy but I have been battling this. I googled trying to figure out what it was and found something called Perioral Dermatitis.  You may want to see if yours resembles this.  I haven't found anything that works and haven't had a chance to get in with my dermatologist.  Mine is not severe, just annoying.  Hope that helps you.

  • My skin is AWFUL, I have acne everywhere and my hands are so dry and bumpy. I am generally an oily person. This pregnancy has dried me out! I have experienced dry skin for the first time in my life! I am not enjoying it.
  • @ajgerber‌ my doctor told me to put petroleum jelly on it and it's the only thing that doesn't sting and it calms it down a lot. Also one of my coworkers who's an esthetician recomended calendula cream but I haven't had a chance to go get it yet.
  • I glowed in the first tri, but have since had a few ugly breakouts and some dark spots that have showed up (maybe increased sensitivity to sun?) Nails grow quickly, but will break if I don't paint them. Also, hair is growing, but has broken off here and there, it seems like it's protein overloaded or something. Btw, I'm TEAM BLUE.

A friend of mine lost a good amount of her hair during pregnancy and post-partum and I remember her face being bloated towards the end, but not super prone to breakouts. She has a 26 month-old daughter now.

  • My scalp has been on the dry side, which is a bit annoying. My hair grows really fast which would normally be a plus, but considering that I keep my hair really short (think Sinead O'Connor) it's just more upkeep. My skin has been super dry, ugh. But the fast growing nails are nice though so it's not all bad.

Oh! And the off and on acne is annoying. I feel like a blotchy teenager...but if it really is true, this little girl I'm growing is gonna be super cute.
  • I have always been super oily, my hair is less oily but not flat or dry. And I am getting a
Few zits in strange places on my face. Not in the t zone where I would get them for a normal break out.
  • For all my poor mamas out there with oily skin baking soda will become your best friend. Mix a tablespoon of baking soda with water until it forms a paste. Scrub on and let sit (about 2 mins) than wash off with a warm wash cloth. Place a cool wash cloth afterwards to close those pores up. Do this once every 7- 10 days. For my ladies with dry scalp Aveda carries a shampoo & conditioner set called scalp benifits, a bit pricey but a little goes a long way. For my ladies with oily hair do not shampoo more! This will add to the problem when you remove essential oils and over stimulate your sebaceous glands (the ones that produce oil). Instead reach for some dry shampoo or a little dusting of baby powder at the roots. Hormone changes are awesome ;)
  • Pregnancy has done nothing to my hair, skin, or nails...just the same old me.
  • My curls have changed (can't decide if it's good or bad). I have a spot on my chin which I suspect may be eczema. My nails are stroner, but my face has been breaking out. I don't feel beautiful at all. We find out the sex tomorrow so we'll see.
  • My skin has cleared up from pre-pregnancy (as far as acne), but is super dry! My hair is super dry feeling too. I guess I lost some oil which is good in some aspects and not so good in others. I'm having a girl and everyone tells me I look great pregnant, so hopefully my baby girl won't be ugly. Jk. Kinda.

  • I have more acne now than I've ever had before. DH keeps looking at me and just saying 'oh your poor face.' Thanks? Maybe if I have acne now my son won't have it later?
My hair is thinner which I love because I have an absurd amount of hair. My hairdresser is due almost 8 weeks before me and said her hair thinned out then got thicker recently. I was hoping to keep the thinner hair.
