Does anyone else on here have asthma? How are you guys handling it? I keep having attacks but I can't really use my inhaler anymore because my doc says it can cause labor contractions
I have asthma. I use my medication regularly. My doctor said it's better that my asthma stays under control. I've never had my doctors say don't use an inhaler if I need it. It seems dangerous if you can't breathe... If you aren't getting enough oxygen then baby may not get enough oxygen. Have you seen your primary care specialist as well?
My asthma got really bad in the second tri, with allergies and the baby crowding my lungs. I was doing my albuterol inhaler 3-4 times a day, which both my OB and my PCP said was safe for pregnancy. My PCP put me on Singulair and that helped, although since he dropped I haven't needed my inhaler once. Just went off Singulair to see how I do without it. Don't think my PCP wants me to breastfeed on it. I agree with PP, it's top priority to keep your and baby's oxygen up.

I told my OB yesterday and he said to see if I can get a prescription for a different inhaler bc albuterol causes contractions
I have asthma and I use my albuterol inhaler daily. I've never had an issue with contractions. My OB cleared it for me. Just goes to show how different every doctor is!!

I also use my albuterol daily, and none of my doctors (I have a team of OBs and see a different one each time) has a problem with it. I also take Singulair and a steroid inhaler. They told me to keep taking all of them from day one.
