Making Dad feel special

What ideas do all you expectant moms have to help Dad feel special. I want gift ideas so I can give him little presents throughout the next few months since most of the attention is focused on me. He already attends all the appointments and keeps up with "the happenings" of this process but I want to show him that he isn't being forgotten about. All ideas are appreciated!

Re: Making Dad feel special

  • My hubby liked putting things together for baby #1- like assembling the crib. I gifted him some children's books during the pregnancy, and he tends to do bed time stories now.
Also DH actually likes to shop so I dragged him all over looking at things.

  • Maybe this is lame, but if I'm out and about and see a baby outfit/toy/whatever that reminds me of him and his interests I will often purchase it. My baby is going to look like a punk rocker.

  • I know you said little gifts, but if you're looking for something bigger there is a company called Man Crates that makes man themed gift baskets that arrive in an actual wooden crate with crow bar and they carry a new dad themed one. I've ordered a couple of those in other themes for DH and they are always big hits.
  • You could get Dude You're a Dad or other dad-to-be books.

Onesies and baby toys related to his interests are great! Like World of Warcraft plushies, Xbox onesies, Spiderman socks, Superman/WonderWoman bibs, NFL team baby gear, etc.

Father's Day in June is a great time to present him with a Daddy bag... Either a manly diaper bag or a hospital survival kit for him.
  • I bought my DH a new rifle....and planned a trip to Vegas next month where one night he'll attend a gentleman's club while I go have a Mani/pedi. Lol I guess I'm a bird of a different feather.
  • It's really sweet that you want to do that. I don't have anything helpful, but tune into what he might be most excited about doing with the baby (if it's going for walks, let him pick out the stroller; if it's playing catch, get a toddler sized ball glove; if it's watching sports, a team onesie; fishing, a kid fishing pole). He'll appreciate things that are most in tune with him. With our daughter, I didn't do anything like that, but the only time my DH got excited about one of my shower gifts was when I got a bunch of bath toys.
