What worked for you this week? Cutting out pretty much all carbs.

What didn't work for you this week? So at pervious Check-ins I have mentioned how mornings are my problem meal, but otherwise I can eat all the things...this is no longer the case. I have been laid up on the couch for the past two and a half weeks with severe pelvic pain. Up until now I've been very active and mobile, but I think having to quit my bi-weekly Pilates sessionsand sitting around on the couch all day has made a huge difference (My numbers are much higher, and a couple of times I really should have taken insulin, but I'm too scared to jam that needle into my thigh) That's my theory, anyway. I see my diabetes counselor on Tuesday, so we'll see what she says.

GTKY: What are your strategies for your diet on Superbowl Sunday? Making anything special? I'm thinking wings is the way to go here. We're watching the second half of the game at a local brewery. They don't serve food, but you can bring your own, so I may make a pit stop at buffalo wild wings.

  • When were you diagnosed?
2 weeks ago but just began to be able to test thus week after meeting with the endo.

What worked for you this week?
I found a go-to breakfast. 2 corn tortillas, 1/4 cup shredded cheese, and 3 turkey sausage links. I really like it and my numbers are well within target afterwards.

What didn't work for you this week?
Pretty much everything else :-). I've discovered fast food is out, even if the "numbers" show I can eat it. I shouldn't eat it anyway, I know, because it's crap so it's a good thing overall I suppose :-).

I'm not making anything special. I might have some cheese dip with a few corn chips and see what that looks like.

When were you diagnosed? Early October What worked for you this week? I found this recipe for fajita quesadillas that not only tasted amazing, but kept me within my numbers! What didn't work for you this week? The pizza I have been craving the whole pregnancy and finally caved in and got it. GTKY: What are your strategies for your diet on Superbowl Sunday? Making anything special? It's just another night for us so nothing special on the menu.

What worked for you this week?
I've had a really good week this week. My OB and my dr at MFM were very happy with my numbers, so I am grateful for that. Surprisingly, the thing that has worked best for me is a sugary treat (cookie, bite of brownie) for my evening snack. My fasting numbers have been in the 70s. Go figure.

What didn't work for you this week?
I overdid it a bit at lunch and had three pieces if pizza instead of two. Just couldn't stop myself.

We're staying in, so it's pretty much just another night. But I'm hoping to have some popcorn later.

    Have a good week, everyone.

What worked for you this week? Snacking and not letting myself get too hungry. Peanut butter is great on things for snacking. I've also been having sugar free pudding before bed and my numbers in the morning have been awesome.
What didn't work for you this week? eating Chick-fil-A. Made my number spike but honestly it was so delicious and worth it for one bad number.

GTKY: What are your strategies for your diet on Superbowl Sunday? Making anything special? My number ended up being pretty decent. I snacked a lot but tried to limit my chips. Before the party we actually go Panera so I tried to fill up on salad and soup so I didn't snack as much on crap.

What is everyone doing for snacks? I'm getting kind of bored of my normal cuisine which is…
    sugar-free pudding before bed
    almonds & string cheese
    Fiber One or KIND bars
    Rice cake w/peanut butter
    Apple w/peanut butter
    Veggies w/hummus
  • I'm obsessed with Coconut Bliss Dark Chocolate bars. I have one before bed with a spoonful of peanut butter - my numbers are consistently in the mid-70s.

What worked this week: I have been eating the way I normally did before diagnosed. For lunch, dinner and snacks my numbers have all been great.

What didn't work: Numbers have been within range after breakfast but on the higher end. It was leaving me feeling a bit off to start my day. They had me eating 30g so I switched to 15g for breakfast. MUCH better so far! I had tried walking after eating first but it didn't seem to help me in the mornings :(

I went to a party for the Super bowl and snacked on a little bit of everything (kept the chips to a minimum though) numbers were just fine :)

@kjones115 - I like yogurt and cheese for a mid -day snack. Before bed I usually have a small glass of milk or chocolate milk and my numbers in the morning have been great.
