What vibe does "Summer" have to you?

I've always liked the name Summer but I'm not sure if it's "my style"...

I know some people who view Summer as an earthy nature-inspired name while others view it as more preppy. What connotation does it have for you? One of these? Something else?

  • Hippie and ditzy. With that said, I still like the name but would never use it.

Ditzy as in blonde valley girl cheerleader? Lol.. I'm asking because I think some people view Summer that way but to me that's the opposite of hippie so maybe you meant something else
  • I love summer! It's On my list, I just think it's pretty and girly and not too common
  • I love it....
I would put it in the free spirit category definitely not ditzy
  • I agree with pp, I'd put it in the somewhat hippie/nature/free spirit category
  • I love it! It's on my list and my style is usually nature-meets-classic kind of thing!

  • I think hippie and ditzy, too. I can't picture a professional adult named Summer.

Yes, ditzy as in blond, valley girl cheerleader. I meant hippie or ditzy. One Summer may be hippie and another Summer may be ditzy. I can't imagine a professional Summer, just my experience with every Summer I've ever met.

    This.
  • I really wanted to use it as a middle name for my due-in-June baby but it just doesn't sound right with our last name. I love it, it's a nature name without being a hippy name.

  • I don't know about a style, but the name just seems dated to me.

Gotcha ;) Haha.. These are certainly interesting perspectives! I've never thought of it as unprofessional, I know quite a few adults (professionals) named Summer.. Must be a regional thing! But this is all good to know. Thanks for the feedback!! :)

Edit: that was supposed to be a quote up top (oops)..

I agree! I really like names that are nature-inspired without sounding like a pot head. I'm just afraid other people don't view it that way..
  • I didn't seem at all hippie to me! Not like birch or anything
