Baby hiccups

Has anyone encountered this yet, and how far along were you?

Re: Baby hiccups

  • Yes! 20 weeks and a few days. So sweet!

  • Someone asked me today if I've experienced the baby's hiccups yet. I hadn't paid much attention to it, but I think my l/o has the hiccups now. It is making me laugh so hard. I'm a FTM at 25 weeks and still not sure if it's the hiccups or not, but there's a lot of consistent movement going on in one spot.
  • I haven't noticed it with this one yet but with my first she would hiccup ALL THE TIME it was pretty adorable, even after she was born she hiccuped a lot for at least a few weeks. I dont' remember how far along I was though when I first felt her hiccuping. Id guess at least around 5 1/2 month mark.
  • My first one hiccuped towards the end of my pregnancy on a regular basis. This little girl hasn't started yet to my knowledge, but she is a mover!!
  • Yes! 25 weeks, it seems to be daily!
  • Yup .. Don't remember when I first felt them but... I'm 24 now.
  • I'm not sure if this is a stupid question but how can you tell if they're hiccuping? I have an anterior placenta so I've only just started getting used to daily kicking.
  • I don't think that's a silly question. I'm not sure if I've felt it either. So I guess I haven't?

  • How do you know the difference?! I'm a FTM and feel movements almost all day at 23 weeks tomorrow. My little girl is super active
  • It's more of a quick thump and flutter in one spot vs a straight on kick or body movement. I can mainly tell when i see the bump go up and down really fast- hiccup. Swift wave movements of the skin- moving around. Not as hard as a kick! So awesome
  • It feels like a pulse or a throbbing :) it took me a little while to figure it out. I thought I had a blood clot or something.
  • It's a repetitive motion... Every time Im pregnant my baby gets them often. It's a little annoying at times now. This time baby had hiccups during the anatomy scan and you could literally see the poor babe moving to the hiccups.
  • this helps! While i know these feelings can get cumbersome towards the end of pregnancy, I am so looking forward to some baby hiccups :) Thanks ladies!

Yup at 20 weeks. I'm now 26 weeks and I feel them throughout the day
  • I'm 27 weeks and still have not felt them, I can't wait to though

  • All the time! 21 wks+ They feel like a repetitive, equally spaced then tapering off, thump that can last up to 5+mins. It is just like when you or your children have the hiccups. It can be annoying, but a reassurance also ;)

  • I will go down in history as the only person to hate fetal hiccups. My first two had them pretty regularly... so I suspect this one will start to get them pretty soon here. For me it's like that annoying eye twitch that just won't go away.

  • As much as I hiccup, I'm surprised this kid isn't yet. Of course, it's entirely possible I just can't feel/notice it yet, too. Maybe my "hiccup gene" passed them by.
