I'm 7 weeks to delivery, i'm a 36-G bra size. Have been since I stopped nursing my son 4 yrs ago. I have no idea what to get! I have to drive 2hrs to get to any maternity store plus the cost of the bras themselves. I need some advice please help!!!
I can't speak from experience, but recently took a breastfeeding class. The instructor commented on this. She mentioned that especially in the beginning, you'll change dramatically in size, so even if you were to go out and get a nursing bra after delivery, it will likely change quite a bit a week or two later. She suggested starting out with nursing tank tops, they are a little more forgiving, more comfortable, and an easy alternative the first month or so, when you'll probably be around the house most of the time anyways, and you can always throw a sweater or something over it when you go out, if you'd like. I guess that doesn't specifically answer your question, but I thought I'd pass along the advice, it sounded like good logic to me. Good luck...bra shopping with big boobs is a pain in the butt under normal circumstances, I'm not looking forward to nursing bra shopping!
I generally order online in estimated sizes and then return. My hospital has a breastfeeding store and I tried on some of these already, so I know that they'll be a good fit but be stretchy enough for the changes that might happen after birth. I've been wearing the bravado bliss and I like it a lot for a wire-free bra. I will probably get more bravado's and try Anita, Royce and Hot Milk after I have my size established.
I would say you need to be sized but it sounds like thats a bit of a trip for you. Getting them from some websites online may help and they usually have a sizing guide. I also think there have been some threads on nursing bras already. Search for them and they may offer more info.
I am going to order one or two off of amazon now and wait until my milk comes in to order more. My breasts have grown two sizes this pregnancy and I'm so terrified they will just be engorged and watermelon-luscious after birth. And just about every brand out there has a different scale for their sizes.
I wonder if anyone has any great trusty brands they would recommend?
