Birth Story Slideshow Music

I had the pleasure of photographing a client's birth story on Friday. Now that the images are edited and mostly finished, I need a song for the slideshow. After doing a handful of these and not wanting to repeat songs, I'm figuring out that I'm at a loss. The baby was a med free water birth and is a big baby girl so it needs to be something chill, not "isn't she lovely", upbeat stuff. The mom and dad like country music so I was thinking In My Daughters Eyes (Martina McBride) My Wish (Rascal Flatts) or My Little Girl (Tim McGraw). I think they're open to things other than country, too.

Any other suggestions? I've asked Google and don't care for the suggestions so far. Big virtual high fives to all those that help! :) Thanks!

    Wait... you can film your birth, edit it, and dub it with music? Is that what you are saying these people did?

    My husband and I have been photographers for years and about a year ago I got into labor and delivery / birth story photography. So yes, I photograph the labor, delivery, after care, visitors, meeting siblings, first bath, footprints etc. Once done, we edit, usually converting them to black and white. Customer get all the images, a couple hundred usually, and the best ones that tell the story of the day go into a slideshow that's set to music. I can link our site if you'd like to see a couple of examples of what I'm talking about. It's big on the west coast but slowly gaining popularity where we are, on the east coast.

    Picking the music is always the hardest part!

    Me too. I didn't know you could do this. Can you do it without the actual delivery or does that just miss the point?

    We do have another plan which we call "One Day New" and that is where we go to the hospital the next day to get photos of family visiting, meeting siblings etc. It's basically the second half of the Birth Story because some women are more modest or conservative and some just don't want the pressure of having someone else in the room, looking at them. Being in labor twice myself, I totally understand that which is why we came up with that package. I think the newest Birth Story slideshow will be up tomorrow so I'll link it then so you can see the water birth. It was so cool! I've had c sections and this seemed the exact opposite and intriguing. I'm envious of those that can do it.

    Where are y'all from? There may be photogs in your area that offer this type of stuff if you're interested, you should definitely check into it. I've had both of mine done and love looking back at them :)

    Of course! She is one of my favorite artist and is seriously one of the most genuine people you will ever meet! If your couple really wants country, "Your first lullaby" by Benton Blount is great as well. I just love non-mainstream songs for those kinds of occasions!!

    The client chose Beautiful by Jim Brickman and Wayne Brady. I'll use her version for the blog but for my portfolio, I'm using a song by my favorite indie artist, Joshua Radin. Link to the site to come tomorrow when I finish it up!
